You do not have to be an expert to predict that travel industries will have a great comeback in the post covid-19 era. Everybody is waiting patiently for the time when they can freely go out.

Not sure about some people are waiting patiently. Domestic travel will trump international as we see huge price hikes

The wife flew to Haneda early this morning. All the ANA staff were friendly and helpful, despite the weird emptiness of the airport. Sincerely hoping they will all be able to hold onto their jobs.

I don't think I could get on a crowded airliner again. My job would literally have to be on the line, as in make this trip or you are fired, to make me do it. Just last night I was meditating on the fact that it has been over a year since I have had a cold or flu. I'm not sure I even want to go back to the way things were before Novermber 2019. Even if "things open up" I'm not so sure I want to.

It is obvious that there will be a rebound of business for travel industries, but it seems they are really overestimating the amount of people that will readily use their services, a lot of people have discovered a different life style now, so I think is not irrational to expect an important reduction at least until people go back to the same habits as before.

ANA is best airline for me. Staff always courteous, efficient including those at their call centre. Now they even re-extended my mileage points to September !

Commercial aviation contributes about 2% of global CO2 emissions. Aviation is looking hard at using hydrogen or ammonia to fuel aircraft engines. The US Navy has flown F/A-18 Hornets on 100% biofuels (the so-called "Green Hornet" program). Ocean shipping contributes a bit over 2% of global CO2 emissions but is far more efficient on a ton-kilometer or ton-mile basis. It just takes a lot longer and there are more opportunities for freight to suffer damage.
