As long as customers are willing to pay nothing will change. In Europe I pay €8 for 60gb and unlimited calls. The prices in Japan are just ridiculous high.

That's just a trick. In the end they will start piling up taxes and extra useless options until the price is doubled.

When you only have three main carriers and a handful of MVNOs, you can't expect too much competition or much in price differences. Besides, it's considered a major faux pas at the private golf course to be the guy who's trying to rock the boat.

5G service areas are still quite abysmal. Maybe by the end of 2021 it will be worth it but hopefully by then more companies will have followed Rakuten's lead of charging the same for 4G and 5G services.

I believe it includes unlimited 5 minute calls? Cheaper than my current charge, about ¥3,500.
