Another case of mask-related violence, this will never end. I wonder what would it take for these stubborn mules to comply in the very least.

Shimizu is suspected of grabbing the male doctor in the chest area, resulting in a minor injury, on Jan 25, according to the police.

not questioning the police report but I guess it was just a slight reddish rash that they'll report as a "minor injury."

What a surprise. As soon as I read this headline I knew it would be some cantakerous, entitled oyaji who thinks rules don't apply to him, enraged that a young whippersnapper wasn't showing him enough deference.

Wear your mask properly, or take it off. Don't wear it on your chin.

Oh, and if you take it off, stay in your own damn house.

Manchild of the week.

There you go, another case of Mask police yet,

There is no law that you HAVE to wear a mask. No one should be forced.

I understand that what this guys did to the doctor was bad and shouldn't be done.

Now my post will be banned as anyone with opposite point of view isn't welcomed here.

No one should HAVE to deal with someone who they consider a risk, so if you don't wear a mask fine but don't be surprised if people won't deal with you.

Dont be so childish. This dropkick was in a doctor's surgery. He was told to put the mask on. The violent old fool should show some damn respect and listen to the doctor. Hope he gets jailed.

What is the purpose for these stubborn oyaji? What do they do for society?

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Hmm I wouldn't say I'm being childish, I just don't like hypocrisy.

I know that what this guy DID shouldn't happen and it's wrong.

HOWEVER

We have a state of emergency all around Japan and everyone is going out to restaurants, cinemas, travel, etc. and no-one is following them saying "Hey Sir you shouldn't go outside if it isn't truly necessary".

BOTH are not prohibited by LAW, but in the first case, I see people behaving like MASK POLICE while in the second case everyone is going out on a jammed train having fun in pubs, restaurants, and other places.

This is the real issue. That many people forget.

The old codger was in a hospital, ie private property, the doctor would not be doing his job properly if he allowed his patients to be exposed to possible harm from a potential spreader.

It isn't all about the law. Common sense and good manners comes into it (or not, if you're an entitled old codger with a chin-nappy). If he doesn't want to wear a mask, he should stay out of the hospital. If he wants the doctor to see him/treat him, then he needs to follow the doctor's directions.

Masks need to be worn anywhere people congregate. This old fool is too stupid to realize the doctor was doing him a favor and possibly saved his life by getting him to wear his mask properly.

Do the hustle

Where do you get the "possibly save his life" from? The masks are not supposed to protect the wearer (which they clearly do not do), but rather to protect others by slowing air flow.

While I don't condone the use of violence to settle any disagreement, this is what you get when you force people to do things they don't want to do. That said, I you must be at a place where a mask is required don't be a baby and comply, if you don't have to be at that place just leave.

Violence is appalling. What is wrong with old people here??

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Another isiot who thinks a chin sling is enough.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I always wear my face mask on the chin when I ride on my bike but wear it correctly in the crowd.

Shimizu should be getting a mental evaluation from a psychiatrist soon. It wouldn't surprise me if he says he had been drinking prior to!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Maybe he “was drunk” and ‘doesn’t recall the matter’.

Every time Japan moves ahead with its ‘great example to the world’ campaign, someone screws it up with news like this. (Please see ‘Tokyo reports 676...” for the Great Photo by AP/Mr. Koji Sasahara. EVERYONE is wearing a mask correctly over the nose and under the chin. Score one for Japan!

People are stressed out, what can you do? I also had a mask police woman yell at me in a parking lot in Florida last November when I did not have a mask on. I think it is best to lead by example and move on.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This is what happens when you call out a narcissist. No doubt Mr. Shimizu is the first one to point out when someone else isn't wearing a mask or wearing a mask correctly. Poor doctor.

Easy to imagine what the cantankerous goat’s poor wife and kids have had to put up with all this time. I bet secretly they’re celebrating his comeuppance. Not impressed also with Asahi, which should know better than to reinforce the stereotype that a 68 year old who isn’t working should be referred to as “unemployed” rather than “retired”. Then again, societal expectations that there’s no rest short of the grave, goes a long way towards explaining this poor sod’s outburst. Such ‘to hell with everyone except me’ selfishness is a corollary of Japan’s enthusiastic embrace of 痩せ我慢 frugality, and aversion to providing its people with anything more than retirement pensions completely inadequate for anything but the satisfaction of basic needs.
