Man arrested for soliciting prostitution from high school girl

Kanagawa Prefectural Police have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of engaging in lewd acts for money with an 18-year-old female high school student last year.

Police said Kensuke Hikiji, a company employee from Tokyo’s Akishima City, allegedly paid the girl 30,000 yen in cash in exchange for sexual services at a hotel in Kawasaki City’s Tama Ward on Aug 12, 2020, Sankei Shimbun reported. The girl, who lives in Yokohama, was 17 at the time.

Hijiki and the girl stayed in their room for approximately two hours from 1:15 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. Police said, a cybercrime patrol unit found a video of the suspect having sexual intercourse with the girl. Moreover, the footage showed another girl under the age of 18, who appeared in several similar videos in Hijiki’s possession.

Police said Hijiki has admitted to having sex with minors and they are questioning him about whether he sold the videos for profit.

What if it were his daughter with some older perv?

The ages here are 17 and 35.... that is not a giant difference, and nowhere does it say anything about perv. And how do you know he has any daughter?

Yes, the girls were under-age, but not dramatically so. And the girls did not complain, so I would save my rightful anger for cases where really something bad happened. How about some nuance.

I see. You are pretending nuance doesn't exist so that you can pretend you don't know what men I'm referring to, in order to feel justified in picking a fight. Sorry, not taking the bait. I think you know what I meant quite well

I am not picking a fight with you.  This is the victimhood mentality which serves no one well. I am simply pointing out the inconsistencies in your post.

> You keep pretending context doesn't exist and that it's not a natural part of human communication to infer meaning. Again, I'm not taking the bait.

There you go again with your nuance thinking that I am baiting you. You are so wrong. The only bait I throw out is when I go salmon fishing. Are you a salmon?

If you aren't interested in my views, why are you reading my posts and trying to pick them apart?

I read all the posts if it is a topic in which I am interested. If the topic does not interest me, I go to the next topic. If I feel a particular post deserves a comment, then I do so. However, in the topics that I do read and you are posting, it certainly seems that half of the time you are in a battle with men. Hmmm, I wonder why?

Having sex with an underage girl is a BIG...No...No...It's a stupid thing to do.

Age of consent, .... Passed, so she isnt "underage". Educate yourself to the laws here before you talk, makes you look, well, ignorant!

You said I look ignorant, THE GIRL was 17 at the time this sexual encounter happened. She was under the age of consent. Her age at the time the police found out does not matter, Her age at the time of the SEX act is what matters

I wrote "Having sex with an underage girl is a BIG...No...No...It's a stupid thing to do" YET you seem to disagree with this. So my question to you is are into little girl who are underage ??

When you wrote "the men who make the laws" is thus implying all of the men who make the laws. If not, why not simply write "some of the men who make the laws..."? It does seem hyperbolic straw woman is obvious.

I see. You are pretending nuance doesn't exist so that you can pretend you don't know what men I'm referring to, in order to feel justified in picking a fight. Sorry, not taking the bait. I think you know what I meant quite well.

I never said that you said anything about making prostitution illegal. Read my post, don't just assume things.

You keep pretending context doesn't exist and that it's not a natural part of human communication to infer meaning. Again, I'm not taking the bait.

Also, I am not interested in your views or about your partners that were sex workers. Don't you think that being a sex worker ultimately influences some (not all) men to go further and try it with teenage girls?

If you aren't interested in my views, why are you reading my posts and trying to pick them apart?

Either you are interested and want to know what I think so that we can have a real conversation, or you simply want to pick a fight. I think ti's clear which on this really is, and again - I'm not interested.

Really!   All the men that make the laws are self-serving perverts?   No possibility that even one man is not a self-serving pervert?

I did not say "all the men." Obvious hyperbolic strawman is obvious.

This is what you wrote: "In most countries where sex work is legal, the age of consent is around 20. Personally, I think it should be 25, but the men who make the laws are self-serving perverts who want to make sure they can have young women at their disposal."

Really!   All the men that make the laws are self-serving perverts?   No possibility that even one man is not a self-serving pervert?

I did not say "all the men." Obvious hyperbolic strawman is obvious.

But many women at the age of 20 to 25 (you think the age should be 25) want to make money and they see nothing wrong with this.  Who are you to tell adult women what to do with their bodies and wait until the age of 25 before they can decide? Yet, no doubt you think women should not be told what to do with their bodies when it comes to abortion.

I said absolutely nothing about making prostitution illegal or about telling women what to do with their bodies. If you had read the rest of that post carefully, as well as my other posts, which you should have done before jumping on me like that, you'd note that I said:

Sex work is work: but it's work for adult women.

and

Sex work is legitimate work

To be clear, I fully support sex workers and do not judge their choices. All my judgement is on men who mistreat sex workers and look down on them.

FYI, some of my best friends and partners have been sex workers. If you are interested in understanding my views further you're welcome to ask about them.

In most countries where sex work is legal, the age of consent is around 20. Personally, I think it should be 25, but the men who make the laws are self-serving perverts who want to make sure they can have young women at their disposal.

Really!   All the men that make the laws are self-serving perverts?    No possibility that even one man is not a self-serving pervert?   Are you a panoramic artist painting everyone with the same brush? An older man paying for sex with a minor is definitely wrong and should have the book thrown at him.  But many women at the age of 20 to 25 (you think the age should be 25) want to make money and they see nothing wrong with this.  As long as they are not being forced into such a life (let's say by drug carteIs), it is their choice. Maybe they want the money in order to buy fancy clothes to pretend they are something they are not. But it is still their choice. Who are you to tell adult women what to do with their bodies and wait until the age of 25 before they can decide? Yet, no doubt you think women should not be told what to do with their bodies when it comes to abortion.

You do understand this is utterly irrelevent to the main point of article, don't you?

Some men will grasp onto any scrap, no matter how weak, in an attempt to paint the women as the real villain of the story. The word for that is "misogyny."

Guess you didnt read the age of consent information, in Kanagawa it's 16. So....try again!

Yubaru, are you really trying to make an argument that justifies an adult man having sex with 16 year old girls by saying "it's not illegal"?

Further, are you trying to make an argument that justifies an adult man paying a teen girl for sex by saying "she is of age to consent to sex"?

I really, really think you need to re-think that.

@Joe Blow And the answer is I'd punish her worse than the courts would.

If she's mentally old enough, self-hating enough to go out and score market rate tricks with strange men, what exactly might you be capable of doing to 'punish' her? And perhaps a parental 'punishment' mentality is why her self-worth is so low that she would be psychologically available to lascivious 35 year old men for money... should you really consider having children?

DOEL HARRY

So Kensuke Hikiji was only in the hotel room for two hours, Talk about QUICK on the DRAW why not make it an all night-er if your paying for it make it last

What?? The girl expects to get paid for a quick session, not to spend a whole night with that creep, besides she most likely lives with her parents. Two hours is normal, as that is the typical "Rest" time slot in love hotels.

It really amazes me that a person reaching a certain age would be eligible to a lot of things without even considering their actual mental and emotional capacity. I've seen 16 year old kids act as mature as full grown adults and full grown adults being as responsible and mature as middle schoolers. I'm not condoning the guy here. if two minors did the deed with consent, it's ok and if two consenting adults did it, it's also okay, but if one is a minor and the other is an adult, the whole world goes wild. That 17 year old girl is probably smart enough (or maybe not) to learn by herself the meaning of this "act" that she did. If she was forced o coerced to do so, that's a different matter.

No 17 year old girl (or 18 for that matter) really has the maturity or experience to understand the ramifications of sex work.

In fact, even some women who would be considered adults don't really understand what they are getting into, and live to regret it.

As you said, "actual mental and emotional capacity" - by which I assume you mean maturity and ability to understand the consequences of one's actions - vary from person to person.

That is why we have these laws. An age of consent to do sex work has to be determined using both common sense as well as the scientific understanding we have of psychology and biology regarding brain development.

In most countries where sex work is legal, the age of consent is around 20. Personally, I think it should be 25, but the men who make the laws are self-serving perverts who want to make sure they can have young women at their disposal.

Also, being 18 doesn't make a girl ready for sex work, and a grown adult man should be having relationships with women his own age - men who seek out girls who are significantly younger then they are to pay them for sex have major issues with both women and their own sexual maturity.

One my daughter has a mental problem actually that makes her unwilling to go to school, or with heavy reluctance.

That's not a mental problem; it's probably just good sense. Schools for the most part are awful places for kids. Maybe she is just brave enough to refuse to play along, or clear-sighted enough to not be able to stand it.

Let her be who she is. We have a similar issue. After looking into it, I realized that some of those most successful people I met with missed a lot of school or got around it entirely. Schools destroy the brightest to nurture mediocrity.

We have a hashtag metoo movement where adult women with all their faculties willingly go to a hotel room where there is a man that can progress their acting career. Years later, after many have achieved something in their field, they cry rape, abuse, harassment and we give them the benefit of a doubt and destroythe man. Then we have children being abused by a 35year old and we all want to punish the child

Next time, I don't pay and keep my videos for myself. Case closed ;) (irony off).

I have two daughters and educating them not to gain money with their bodies that way. Especially if for buying totally unecessary stuff.

If it happens, then what can you do ? Beat them with a stick ? Encage them ? No, you can just educate them better.

One my daughter has a mental problem actually that makes her unwilling to go to school, or with heavy reluctance. Nothing in the world will change her mind outside help, understanding and patience (we tried everything else on Earth).

Same here.

And if protected and with consent, sex is good for health. We are made to have sex if you did not know.

The national age of consent in Japan is 13!

https://www.ageofconsent.net/world/japan

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

The laws in each prefecture are different, even if the national age of consent is 16, the law in each prefecture takes precedence!

The age of consent in the prefectures ranges from 16 to 18 years, and it is illegal to engage in sexual activities with partners who are below this age unless a parent approves of the romantic relationship. In Tokyo, for example, a person has to be at least 18 years to agree to have any form of sexual relations.

This article title is classic "click bait"

Man arrested for soliciting prostitution from high school girl

Soliciting and actually having sex, are two different things altogether! And he was arrested on suspicion because of the videos the cops found, and NOT because of any complaint by the young woman in question.

This title is 100% wrong, as he has NOT been arrested for solicitation, he is being detained for suspicion of a crime, "lewd acts for money" and not on a minor either, as she is past the age of consent!

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

There is no easy answer to the question of when someone is mature enough to get involved in the sex industry, but this girl was underage according to the law. Punish him severely.

Oh, and legalise prostitution and tax it. It wouldn’t solve all the problems with this industry but it probably would have a beneficial effect for those involved in it.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The only thing here is that he is an adult who paid a minor for sex. Had she been doing it with an also-underaged high school boy (or girl), and even gotten some money, this wouldn't be a story.

He also made and sold videos for profit according to the article, and I think that adds a more severe element, especially if the girl did not know.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Let's count the number of men who put the blame on the teenage girl in order to absolve the adult male, who is the actual adult in the situation, of blame:

So, let's see...she went to this big building called a hotel of (as I am understanding) her own volition but didn't know the building's purpose? She was given some paper things with a man's face on it but didn't know it was money and the guy forced it on her. She took off those things she was wearing and did some sexual acts but didn't know she was doing that. Sure.

There was an article on JT last week talking about high schoolers having more sex during the pandemic and girls getting pregnant and having STDs, etc. Are those girls being "abused?" This guy didn't use or abuse her according to the article and she put herself in that situation willingly. The only thing here is that he is an adult who paid a minor for sex. Had she been doing it with an also-underaged high school boy (or girl), and even gotten some money, this wouldn't be a story.

I'm sure there will be more. This site is rife with men who seemingly think it's all right for older, more experienced adults to take advantage of young girls and young women who don't yet have the maturity or life experience to really understand the implications of sex work.

Sex work is work: but it's work for adult women. Adult men who solicit sex from teen girls are in the wrong, period.

As someone else mentioned, the actions of the young women also need to be addressed, but in an age-appropriate way that does not include slut-shaming her and blaming her for her own victimization.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I see adult men attempting to justify teenage prostitution it just makes me sick. It also makes me suspect them - thou dost protest too much, sir.

A person's awareness of their actions and degree of responsibility for them gradually increases with age from early childhood on. It cannot be said that 17 year olds have no awareness but the day they turn 18 or 20 they've suddenly developed full adult awareness and accompanying responsibility.

The man obviously needs punishment. The girl in question also needs some discipline (That's what juvenile courts are for) and mentoring and guidance in order to lead a happy and productive life.
