Man admits strangling 90-year-old mother in Kumamoto Prefecture

Police in Uki, Kumamoto Prefecture, have arrested a 67-year-old man on suspicion of strangling his 90-year-old mother at their home.

Police said Masamitsu Uchiyama, who lived with his parents, has admitted to the charge, Sankei Shimbun reported. He was quoted as saying he had felt a growing resentment toward his parents.

Uchiyama’s father, who was in his 90s, was also found dead, and Uchiyama has since alluded to killing him, police said. There were no visible injuries on the father’s body and an autopsy will be held to determine the cause of death.

Uchiyama is believed to have strangled his mother, Etsuko, with his hands between Jan 17 and 18 at their home.

On Monday morning, a home care worker discovered the mother collapsed in her bedroom and called 119.

I hope they tear down that house, or not rent it out. I once lived in a haunted house in Tokyo, and got attacked by an old JN man ghost , and others, and got sick afterwards.

@fuzzylogic,

Please tell the full story.

Can't recall a similar story of killing both parents. Maybe not having kids is a good idea.

Astonishing how he managed to hold himself back for almost seven decades, but finally the fuse burnt through anyway.

@fuzzylogic, yes I think the physical environment can greatly affect our mental state and it could be physical phenomenon such as electromagnetic waves that drive a person insane or to suicide. Glad you followed your instinct.

I am thinking that one has to put themselves in his shoes. Yes the parents were up in age. he may have had a very good relationship with his parents in his younger and mid years. As he got older he had to care for them as they care for him when he was a baby and then a child and as he got older they got older and PERHAPS he couldn't come to grips of seeing his parents that way as he did PERHAPS in more youthful and happy times. Perhaps he thought it was better to end their lives and not see them PERHAPS suffering. WE DON'T KNOW we are just reading, I could be wrong but it just a thought of me looking at what he could have PERHAPS been going through, PERHAPS he didn't kill them out of resentment for hatred it could have been LOVE!! YES and I could be wrong, just my thought

So many cases like this in J-land, every time you look up, someone stated on the reddit website.

If you don't have your own apartment by 67 years old that's pretty damn sad.

My in-laws need/expect help in a neighboring prefecture. Both daughters are married with kids and were all working away with little time for ourselves. They expect us to care for them in a dieing prefecture where all the local schools have closed. I hope when I’m older and if I need help that I will be selfless enough to check my old ass into a care home and let my daughter live her life as full as possible. Sad thing is they have money but are rigidly inflexible with unreasonable expectations.

Same for hoikuen these senior care homes have waiting list. Most people can't get there. They have day service for seniors so when family members are at work they are picked up by car and taken to these day services. Weekends, nights family has to care. Or there is caregiver visiting senior at home. That's all. Most seniors don't make it into senior care homes even they would like to go there.

He was quoted as saying he felt a growing resentment toward his parents

Translated into everyday English, that means he resented the fact that his parents will be doing soon and he'd have to go find a job after all these years

Will be gone soon

Well, now he doesn't have to worry about finding food or lodging for the rest of his life. But I resent the fact that my tax dollars are supporting him
