And, the ‘parade’ this week continues with ‘Porthos’ - “Live as if you don't care and fart whenever you wish.” On/off screen, wasn’t he always the same ‘character’?

The woman's lawyer... told AFP that she hoped her client's "private sphere will be respected" as the case unfolds.

He's been in some great movies - Tous les matins du monde, Too Beautiful For You - and is capable of putting in really sensitive performances, but off-screen he's obviously equally capable of putting in some really crass performances, e.g. urinating on a plane because he couldn't be bothered getting up to go to the toilet. And now he's allegedly taken the misbehaviour into another league by committing rape.

Given Depardieu's status in France, not much chance of anyone's "private spheres" being respected when this goes to court.

Other big names in cinema to be accused of sexual assault or rape include director Luc Besson [....] television presenters, Patrick Poivre d'Arvor [...] current Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin [...] former French government minister, Georges Tron

I remember when he became famous as an actor his rap sheet was made public it was shocking, but people said he'd paid the price and to move on, obviously he never moved on

J'ai presque oublié ça!

I am not questioning whether he did it, with everything else he has done it is a good possibility.

But this part is what I don't understand.

The actress accuses Depardieu of having raped and assaulted her at his Parisian home on two separate occasions in August 2018.

Now I am quite aware that victims rarely report especially when the person is as powerful as he is. But to return to his home again after the first time?

I have been in some bad situations in my youth and the first thing I learned never put yourself into the same situation twice.

I knew this in my early teens. What this actress says happened is far worse than anything I may have had happen, so why would she go back there again? Or why if she felt she had to ( needs the job in his films etc...) did she not at least bring someone with her?

Because she's not you, has different life experiences, and different reactions, I would imagine.

Not quite accurate. He was refused permission to use the toilet because they were preparing for take-off. He had prostate problems and simply couldn't wait.

Any young woman who allows herself to be alone with an aging star of dubious reputation is asking for trouble or a pay out.

I absolutely agree that you should do that.

If I may suggest the wording, how about: "Do you want me or do you want my money? Check the box."

I am very sure this will aid you in avoiding women...all women, in fact.

If a man doesn't know the difference between consensual touch, and sexual assault, then he had better keep away from all women and girls, I agree. he is clearly a danger.

How can they not list his outstanding performances in Asterix movies? He has always been a bit of a tearaway, though if these allegations are true he has definitely gone too far here.

Why do you think he touched her? This guy is total mess, but because of that is also an easy target for that type of crap.

Anyone ever notice that the women who go on most about toxic masculinity, are also the most extreme examples of toxic femininity? And ever notice how angry they get when you point that out?

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Yes, if your parents happen to be lifelong friends with a male actor whom you see as a father figure, make sure that you are never alone with him.

Well, as wise men say, "don't follow leaders", to which I would add my two cents, "and never trust father figures" (to keep their hands in their pockets in the presence of nubile females because the flesh really is weak).

I can understand the plane situation. Quite such a big boy could very well not squish into any class of plane toilet unless it was made for a wheelchair.

I have noticed both of these. Weird, innit.

Well, I used to have prostate problems and I never had to resort to that, alhough sometimes holding on was agonizing. But then I've never been as drunk on a plane as GD apparently was, which might well have had something to do with it.

Depardieu is now a fatty alcoholic who denigrated his country, moving to Russia to avoid paying taxes.

Oh yes! So very, very angry. Furious! Livid! Positively reeling.

I'm definitively not laughing about it. I don't find this at all funny. No, definitely not laughing or amused at all. ;)

Love hi outfit by the way, nice photo.

What is toxic femininity, in your mind?

What is toxic femininity, in your mind?

I know this is directed at Stranger, but to me it’s women who assume, without complete evidence, that every man who is accused by a woman is guilty.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Check that assume, it should be insist.

TokyoJoe:

Agreed. The issue with making a list is people assume it’s exhaustive or requires every item to be applicable. They then check themselves against that list and find a single inapplicable box and claim they aren’t of the broader category.

If you are a man with money or enjoy even a semblance of fame, have nothing to do with women, especially western women. If your professional capacity dictates interaction, do so concisely, with witnesses and in open areas. Again, interactions should be limited and public.

Pretty good definition. I’d add it is also a tendency to stereotype men while finding the stereotyping of women totally unacceptable.

I have this bizarre notion that we shouldn’t stereotype men, women, different races etc. Bigotry stinks.

Just the way I was brought up and 40-odd years of life experience, I suppose.

Appreciated.

I’d add it is also a tendency to stereotype men while finding the stereotyping of women totally unacceptable.

This is also definitely part of it.

I share these bizarre notions.

Just the way I was brought up

Wish I could say the same for myself, but it was education that frees me from that mindset.

and 40-odd years of life experience, I suppose.

This hasn’t hurt at all.

There are a lot of wealthy “playboy” actors who have never been accused of rape. Don’t be so quick to judge the victim.

Can anyone confirm, but I read somewhere that he was part of a gang as a youth and really did go in for a bit of the old in and out Alex DeLarge style.

With an attitude like that, I’m not sure there’s enough money on earth to get a girl to touch you.

Only if you're an idiot. If you look like Depardeau, they want your money.

And if you are a great looking guy and think with the wrong head all you want is her HONEY!
