Shooting NOT reported for a day in the US would be the actual news. I honestly think there is just a blank field to type in the place with the headlines.

Have never heard of the Oneida Nation so out of curiosity decided to look at their website suggested by Google which is oneidanation.org which diverts to oneida-nsn.gov which tells me "Forbidden - Visitors from your country are not permitted to browse this site." I wonder why.

This one works if you're interested:

Good guys with guns missing in action. Step it up, y'all.

What do you mean? The police arrived and shot him dead. If someone walks up to a person or group of people in "a targeted attack" and shoots them, there's not much anyone can do.

Also, there are laws regarding the carrying of firearms in restaurants in Wisconsin, for example you can only concealed carry if you're not drinking alcohol, not to mention the specific policies of the private establishments themselves.

There is no longer a threat to the community

As long as you don't tighten your gun laws and get guns off the streets and get guns out of the hand of psychos, there will always be a threat to the community

Somewhere in America, a real nut case is assembling an impressive arsenal of deadly weapons and biding his time to shoot dozens. It might be a school or a shopping mall or a sports event or a theater... But while Congress dithers over how to engage in minimal enforcement of an unenforceable gun situation, the timer is ticking down.

"how to engage in minimal enforcement of an unenforceable gun situation"

And there is the problem, you have to get rid of (confiscate) 300+MM guns and prevent them coming in across an apparently loose border.

Regulating the size, color, shape, firing rate, etc., etc., will not do it. Tons of regulation already on the books, obviously to little success.

Your first link is the correct one. There are two Oneida tribes and your link is the one for NY State (Sherrill or Oneida NY, Oneida Lake etc). The Oneida's of WI tried to buy up land that was once part of the Oneida NY reservation maybe 20yrs ago. So there was a sort of beef there, I think they get along now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oneida_Nation_of_Wisconsin (way more powerful and have much more money than the Oneida, NY sovereign Nation.

The Oneida Nation (and just about every Indian Tribe in the United States) is a "Sovereign Nation" that exists and co-exists within the US. =They have their own laws including gun laws. Haven't been in the Casino for at least 10 years, but I believe they do not allow guns of any type. Happened in the restaurant which is fairly new

badsey3,

Thank you, that's a better answer to the original question.

The Oneida Nation doesn't allow firearms on any of its properties, (Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill) said, and noted that "if someone is going to break the law, they're going to break the law, regardless of how many (policies) you put in place."

What do I mean? Gun rights advocates frequently say things like "the only way to prevent a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." They often argue that gun control makes society more dangerous and prevents people from defending themselves.

I am merely pointing out the fact that "good guys" with guns have yet again failed to defend the public. Yet again the police (the state) has protected the citizens. We need gun control.

What's more gun control than banning all guns?

The Oneida Nation doesn't allow firearms on any of its properties,

I'd argue that there was no 'good guy with a gun' here because they were following the rules. You could make your same argument about the police and ALL CRIMES. "There was an assault/robbery/traffic violation? But where were the cops to prevent it?!"

...sorry, had to hit 'Post' and do something else before I finished...

Of course more gun control is needed to keep firearms out of the hands of those with bad intent, and possibly to make dents in the 400 million or so privately owned firearms in the states. You're absolutely right about that. It needs to be federal though, and that's a long, difficult road.

And I agree with you that 'the ONLY way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun' is nonsense. However, with regards to mass shootings only, there have been occasions where that HAS been the case. Also, some have been stopped by good guys without guns, the police, or the shooters themselves, by suicide or walking away, surrendering, whatever. I don't think you can simply dismiss the argument.

62 Year old ex-employee. Due to Covid-19 many food establishments have been shut down or open on a limited basis. As an employer or employee being in the food service industry has not been easy with inconsistent income (less work, less patrons) =however being tied to the Casino and hotel helped.

From the video:

The Duck Creek restaurant is in front of 1 of 2 Casinos (the small one) with a parking garage behind the casino. Larger Casino is to the West with a big parking lot. This area is just North (across 172 hwy) of the Brown County (Green Bay, WI) airport.
