Further evidence, as if rational adults needed it, that the republicans care more about their party than the US. Foul.

“We want to be united in moving forward, and I think that is what will take place,”

Ha ha! "United"- the GOP is eating its own. Ever looked into Stefanik? - she'll have a target on her back the minute she's put in place. The only reason she's being considered is the GOP wants to replace Cheney with another female, and their numbers within the party are thin.

Nice. Now Cheney can join the Democrat party where she can feel more comfortable attacking and undermining Republicans. Democrats love Cheney in the “enemy of my enemy is my friend” sort of way. They felt the same way about John McCain until he ran against Obama for president. Then he was instantly transformed into a racist bigot and misogynist who wanted to re-enslave blacks and put women back in the kitchen.

Cheney made her point when she voted for impeachment. Since then she just can’t seem to move on and work with the party to regain the House in 2022. She isn’t useful in leadership if she cannot look to the future. If I were a Dem I would want her where she is dividing the opposition. It would be like having a pro-life Democrat under Pelosi. That would be counter productive to the parties abortion goals. Rep. Cheney, join the Democrat party and work out your Trump hatred issues. Then take your defeat in your re-election campaign next year like a woman.

Cancel culture. Terrible.

Lol I remember not long ago saying the GOP is a big tent and they should welcome differing ideas and opinions. What happened?

It's pretty sad that just telling the truth is now "undermining Republicans."

We wouldn’t want anyone having their own ideas within the Republican Party, now would we? Funny you all hate anyone who thinks differently than you, but claim it’s the Dems who all think alike.

It’s not anything about different “thinking”.

this person has an inability to stop speaking constantly about what she thinks. Over and over.

it’s a constant distraction and is used to hurt the team. Just like when she agreed with Dems about the false Russian bounty story and kept talking about it.

She falls for fake news, criticizes our other leaders and sides with the other team any chance she gets. That’s not “leadership”.

Apart from siding with the other team, how are you different?

Uhhhh....That's not fake news, black.

In other words, the Republican is a fragile cult, too weak to withstand any criticism from within. I disagree with practically all of Liz Cheney's politics, but she is spot on to renounce GOP attempts to overturn the election and Trump's attempt to cast down on the fidelity of the US election.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

It shows how the Republican Party is still enslaved to Trump. Those that do not follow the ludicrous narrative that he spun, and date to say that the Emperor has no clothes, is hounded out.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I love this stuff. Cheney tells the truth and the GOP sees her as a liability to The Big Lie. The GOP splinters even more.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

amazing how Liz Cheney is now a truth teller, now that she says something you like to hear.

Lets see some other headlines when you didnt like her as much.

These aren’t contradictory statements at all. We welcome other thinking as long as you keep it to yourself!!!

Nobody likes Liz Cheney.

Nobody likes Mitt Romney either.

But at least they haven't drank the kool-aid and have a shred of decency.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

These guys are selling lies by the pound to white supremacists. This plus voter suppression…the GOP has no values anymore; it’s just a cult bent on power and domination at all costs.

This is off-topic but bodes well for all of us watching for the precipitous decline of the Republican party. Just saw a report on MSNBC that social media "mentions" of Trump have dropped 91% since he was banned from various sites.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Lets see some other headlines when you didnt like her as much.

Nowhere did I say I liked her. I do, however, agree with her.

Republicans should stop lying about election fraud. They should stop lying about the "big steal."

This could end democracy in America. Why do we have left when won said declares any election they lose stolen and illegitimate? Why even have elections if that's what you believe?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

It's clear what has happened...

McCarthy, McConnell, and others all blamed Trump for the Jan 6th insurrection...and criticized The Big Lie...

Then McCarthy traveled to Mar-A-Lago where Trump told him that any more criticism would result in Trump bolting from the Repub Party and starting his own, taking the MAGA-cultists with him....

Suddenly, everything flipped - no more criticism, no more truth...except for Liz...

Now, after being a loyal Republican for decades, she is scorned and trashed...for speaking the truth...

No better example that the Repubs are now nothing but a radical, extreme cult...

Blacklabel: Liz Cheney Busted for Lying on a Fishing License Application

Translation: Sure, Trump lied about the election being stolen, but Cheney lied on a fishing application.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

It is clear what happened. Cheney decided to support the Democrats by pounding their message to an eager press for the last two years. Republicans gave her a chance to get over her opposition to her own party and move forward but she refused. So the party has to decided to move on. Cheney never attacked the Democrats Big Lie that Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. So she is out. She is now free to join the Democrats leadership. All the best to her in her future endeavors.

Put another way: Cheney refused to bend over for Trump like the vast majority of the Republican Party did. We can’t have dissension within the party so she has to go.

Wolfpack: It is clear what happened

Do you think Trump really won and the election was stolen from him?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It's quite amazing how the Repub Party is morphing into a China CCP-like entity and perhaps even more like the cult of personality of Kim's North Korea...

Opinions, points of view, thoughts...all must conform to the cult narrative....no free thinking allowed....

And any criticism of cult leader is strictly prohibited, and is swiftly and forcefully punished...

Just remember when you vote, this is where the Repub Party wants to take America...

2 ( +3 / -1 )

this person has an inability to stop speaking constantly about what she thinks. Over and over.

I remember when Republicans loved it when people in their party "always tell it like it is" and "speak their mind no matter the consequences". Because it was a few months ago when Trump was making verbal farts every thirty seconds.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I guess the ASPCA was invited to the last CPAC convention where they carried out a mass neutering - every Repub except Cheney, Romney, Kitzinger, and Larry Hogan lost a pair...

The Repubs are now the Eunuchs of King Donald's court...

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The election was not stolen from Trump. He lost, fair and square. That's why his legal challenges all crashed and burned.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

what legal challenges? this is what happened.

before the election- nothing has happened yet, wait until after the voting happens

during the election and soon after- you have no "standing", not a voter, any Republican or the candidate himself. No one was ever given "standing".

after the election- its "moot" as the election is over.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

The pubs HATE cancel culture.

Just ask Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

what legal challenges?

Here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-election_lawsuits_related_to_the_2020_United_States_presidential_election

Weird you'd forget these. They were very well publicized at the time.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

what legal challenges?

The 367 court cases they filed.

But hey, you guys won one of them. That’s only 366 you lost.

Did those guys pay you out when you bet on trump winning the election? He’s still the president right?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

what legal challenges?

Have you never heard of Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell? You should try watching the news sometimes.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

so when 70% of Republicans believe the election was stolen, you cant be the #3 in Republican "leadership" and continue to spread the Democrat counter messaging.

if you believe something different than the people you are representing, you can just quit your job. Alternatively, you can say your opinion once and then be quiet.

But she wont stop talking, sharing the Dem talking points and matching the messaging of the opposition, so she needs to go from "leadership".

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Biden won the election. This is not a "Dem talking point", it's the truth. Whether you like it or not. Facts don't care about your feelings.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

during the election and soon after- you have no "standing", not a voter, any Republican or the candidate himself. No one was ever given "standing".

Well yeah, having legal standing is part of bringing lawsuit. If I witness a fight, I don't get to sue the aggressor just because I saw the fight. Likewise, I don't get to sue another state because I don't believe they followed their own laws.

so when 70% of Republicans believe the election was stolen, you cant be the #3 in Republican "leadership" and continue to spread the Democrat counter messaging.

Lol if you refuse to sell our lie, you can't be our leader. Pretty sad how committed the Republican party is to one big, stupid lie.

if you believe something different than the people you are representing, you can just quit your job.

Or a maybe someone could run against her and defeat her, hmm?

Alternatively, you can say your opinion once and then be quiet.

Yeah, we wouldn't want anyone to get in the way of our lying.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

thats next year.

for now, she can be removed from an appointed position this week.

Or a maybe someone could run against her and defeat her, hmm?

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

so when 70% of Republicans believe the election was stolen, you cant be the #3 in Republican "leadership" and continue to spread the Democrat counter messaging.

How about the belief that COVID is caused by 5G network towers?

That the government has been infiltrated by alien lizards?

That Jewish-funded space lasers cause forest fires?

That pizza parlors steal children's adenochrome?

if you believe something different than the people you are representing, you can just quit your job. Alternatively, you can say your opinion once and then be quiet.

But she wont stop talking, sharing the Dem talking points and matching the messaging of the opposition, so she needs to go from "leadership".

Great explanation and example of cancel culture....well done...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

yet the majority of Republicans believe differently.

They're wrong. That's the fact. You can believe that clouds are made of cotton candy if you like, but it doesn't make it so.

So anyone in a leadership position in the Republican party who thinks the same as the Democrats can go.

This isn't an issue of ideology or political opinion. It's a matter of fact and fiction. Cheney has sided with the facts (this time). The GOP hate facts, as they interfere with their cult of personality. So they want to tear her down as a heretic against his holiness, Lord Trump.

Do you think the Dems would keep Chuck or Nancy if they ever agreed with the Republicans on anything, even once?

Both agreed with Trump that Americans should receive stimulus checks of $2,000. I might be misremembering, but I'm quite sure that Trump was a Republican.

House GOP leader says he backs ousting Cheney from No. 3 job

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that the House GOP leader is also totally OK with the member from Florida who paid underage teens for sex. But yeah, Cheney taking a principled stand on something is too much for him.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

for now, she can be removed from an appointed position this week.

Kind of funny, isn't it? You can be removed from an appointed seat for refusing to lie about the election, but no one wants to remove Matt Gaetz for sleeping with underage prostitutes.

The Republican party is indeed a big tent. A circus tent to be exact.
