Banning Trump from Twitter will rile millions, removing someone’s freedom to communicate is obviously a dark path to go down.

Every President until recently seemed to manage fine without it.

If your main voice in this world is on Twitter, you are probably not worth listening to.

“They’re not only going to create bad feelings in Congress, they’re really going to create tremendously bad feelings in America,” said Rep Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey.

A common dodge put out by the Republicans, but here's the thing. Donald Trump, Rudy Guiliani, Don Jr. and others clearly incited a riot and insurrection. These are crimes.

You want to know what's going to create division? Letting rebellion and insurrection go unnoted and unpunished. That'll cause bad feelings.

Senator Roy Blunt tried to state that 'Donald touched the hot stove once, he won't do it again.' Why? If you don't impeach or 25th him, he won't have gotten burned. He won't have suffered anything in his eyes. Same as what happened with the last impeachment, when numerous Republicans said 'Oh, he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He's been shamed, he won't do it again now.'

Garbage. It didn't work with the last impeachment. If anything, it didn't shame Trump but emboldened him. He figured he'd gotten away with it once, so why not more? The idea of shame would work with someone who has morals. Trump doesn't, he's a narcissistic sociopath. The greatest punishment he's gotten for all of this is being kicked off of Twitter. That's it.

So tell me Republicans in Congress, what is to stop Trump? A promise? Who cares, he's shown that any oath doesn't mean anything to him, from marriage vows to the oath of Presidency. That he'll be shamed? Equally useless.

And letting Trump skate on this would only further encourage and enflame his minions and cult members. After all, Grand Poobah Trump got off, the 'libs' are scared of him, right? Their cause must be righteous therefore! Time to sacrifice for the man touched by God to bring righteousness to America and make America great again, Donald Trump! (And mods, before you modify or delete that, those are all quotes and comments lifted directly from public figures talking about Donald Trump already)

No. The only way to actually 'heal' is to call out, and punish, those who openly incited a riot. That includes removal from office.

Impeach trump!

Let us ensure that he never gets any chance whatsoever of attempting to run for President again in 2024.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

trump is a shameless buffoon who has flirted with criminality all his life. He needs serious prison time for it to hurt.

Though the PGA cancelling the championship seems to have sobered him up a bit. trump’s businesses will collapse in the next few years, that’s something to look forward to!!!

" Some Republicans warn against impeachment. “They’re not only going to create bad feelings in Congress, they’re really going to create tremendously bad feelings in America,” said Rep Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey."

I am very sure we are way past the bad feeling phase.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Banning Trump from Twitter will rile millions

But the ban will make millions more than that happy.

So boo-hoo to the trolls that will be riled up. Worthless humans.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Trump has been stoking division for months at his super spreader rallies and finally sedition and insurrection. No one is above the law.

12 ( +22 / -10 )

“They’re not only going to create bad feelings in Congress, they’re really going to create tremendously bad feelings in America,” said Rep Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey.

The Republicans are suddenly all about peace and harmony after backing the most deliberately decisive president for over four years, whatever bile came out of his mouth.

Just stoking more division.

Even Burning Bush is getting in on the harmony act, despite doing his best to stoke division for years.

12 ( +20 / -8 )

removing someone’s freedom to communicate is obviously a dark path to go down.

freedom of speech is tolerated as long as it doesn’t lead to open insurrection against public order, check your basics. Those who believed that freedom of speech allows them to take arms against the whole establishment are the same who uses it as an excuse to take power: fascist and nazis.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

This aberration that only got elected with the help of a massive influence operation by Russia that manipulated a lot of weak-minded Americans will now come to its humiliating end...

And what was expected when the Republican Party made its pact with Satan in 2016 is now occurring - that party is now self-imploding...

Nixon must be smiling in his grave - he is now only the second most loathed and despised President in US history...

12 ( +12 / -0 )

”Storming"...

They were practically let in.

Oh, is this the new argument then? They didn’t storm anything, they were just there for a guided tour!

That must be why they murdered that police officer. And injured dozens of others. And smashed windows and doors. And chanted for the deaths of Mike Pence and others. And came armed. And hunted cops and anyone else they found in their way.

All just a friendly outing in the name of healing the divisions in society, right?

12 ( +13 / -1 )

That's the thing, nobody wants that unity..

The right whining about not calling for unity is like fat people whining about elite athletes.

Completely clueless.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

So basically the Dems are tools of the imperial corporate State. Got it. Expect more beautiful reactions from free loving Americans like the one at the Capitol.

In light of last week's events, I declare this comment very responsible, and of positive benefit to society.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Reading the comments is quite revealing.

The Trump supporters don’t seem to know what they stand for since Trump’s twit feed is gone.

Condoning murder and insurrection, trying to explain it away, and then blindly rambling about upholding democracy. It’s weird and pathetic (in it’s true sense ‘pitiable’).

12 ( +13 / -1 )

No one believes in the institutions of the country anymore.

Some people still do, like the people in Congress voting for impeachment.

Those who vote against impeachment need to be identified so they can be be defeated in their next election.

Make the list and defeat the treasonous nutcases at the polls to show that actions have consequences.

11 ( +17 / -6 )

Everyone who states the all so predictable ‘stoking more division’ crap is missing the big picture.

If You let Trump get away with this, you are setting a dangerous precedent. Any future president could do the same knowing that there would be no consequences

11 ( +17 / -6 )

Simply put: you are either with Trump and Insurrection, or you are with America.

Tomorrow, those in Congress are going to show which side they are on.

11 ( +19 / -8 )

Impeach that fascist clown and send him to jail !!..

Stop him permanently to get back in politics..

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Yup.

They think they can cower and silence 74 million Americans. They are wrong.

This is not the way to heal the country.

But storming the Capital in an attempt to murder elected officials is?

11 ( +13 / -2 )

In my neighborhood some years ago there were 2 bars located within a block of one another. The owner/bartender, an arrogant man, of the one bar told one of his drunk and not very smart customers to assault the bartender of the other nearby bar, so the drunken customer took the short walk and bashed the man over the head with a brick. The man nearly bled to death but luckily survived. His attacker was sent to prison for a few years for his crime, and the owner of the other bar was also charged with encouraging the man to commit an act of violence. The bar owner died in a mysterious snowmobile accident soon afterwards, and it looked a lot like a suicide made to look like an accident.

The very same thing holds true here except the encouragement has been done at a mob level, but Trump was the one who gave the mob the motive to commit violence. Like the owner/bartender in the story above, Trump should be charged with inciting the rioters to commit violence alongside with his treasonous son Donald Jr. and Rudy Giuliani.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Lets not forget the seditious invasion of the capital by the maganutters was based on a big lie. They were there trying to hang Pence based on a lie that Trump repeated over and over again. BLM protests were based on black people being murdered by the police, not a totally fake lie by Trump. This is a perfect example of white privilege of the maganutters, they expect to being able to kill cops without consequence for fake reasons but when black people are murdered and protests ensue, it a tragedy. There you go. This is why normal Americans are ashamed of the maga crowd, they frankly are delusional and have been for many years under Trump. It started with the Obama fake birth certificate issue lied about by Trump starting in 2011.

The Democrats and their ilk are useless. Banning Trump from Twitter will rile millions, removing someone’s freedom to communicate is obviously a dark path to go down. Impeaching Trump too will do nothing but strengthen his fan base. Half the country think he is protecting democracy from the Democrats. They are starting a fire.

His freedom to communicate is not being removed. Who said he can't communicate, not that he's ever done it well? What is being removed is his freedom to use privately owned social platforms to continue spreading his lies and message of hate and violence. It's capitalism at it's finest, large companies beholden to no one but their shareholders. Isn't that a Republican dream? Besides, that the 1st Amendment is about the government not being able to take away ones right to free speech, not about Mark Zuckerberg or Jack Dorsey kicking you off of their social media platform. The only pity here is that these social media platforms waiting so long, too long, to take action.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

in the run up to the 2016 election Trump employed one of these big-data analytics companies to hone his message - it says 2 things - (probably more than 2) - 1) he knows the mind[less) of his base - and therefore he also knew what he was inciting (though that might be giving his unexceptional intellect too much credit) - 2) by Trump's rhetoric - it really says a lot about the intellect of his base that his message resonates with them.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Trump's US businesses will probably get hurt, but remember his global connections in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Israel, China, Moscow and elsewhere.

There was a lot of quid pro quo there, the only power trump will have now is over a few brainless bigots and they are not useful to anyone now!!!

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Oh, is this the new argument then? They didn’t storm anything, they were just there for a guided tour!

And on that guided tour, they had two hours of unimpeded access to senators offices and computers. At least one laptop was stolen.

One will have to hope that foreign intelligence, is as inept as the American, and didn't look at Parler and all the other right-wing sites to figure out that this was likely to happen. If they did, they may have used the opportunity to slip in some of their operatives to get some unimpeded access to the Capitol.

Nevertheless, #Trump2024

10 ( +11 / -1 )

He has not got the 74M votes from the hardcore far right and evangelical wing, those votes are only a small fraction.. high majority of votes have come from blue/white collar workers (all races ), military and naturalized immigrants.. that's what the Left is very worried.. and that's why they want to demonise Trump.

sort of meaningless when Biden got 82million, estimated 30million of Bidens voter were from never Trump..ers, millions of republicans in that total

10 ( +13 / -3 )

More republican officials are resigning even in the last few days. Elected republican representatives are speaking out against Trump.

Too little, too late.

They didn't previously speak up for fear of losing voters. Now they are speak up for the same reason.

Two faced worried about their own necks.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

The right seem to be saying that the insurrection was good and cool, and that they liked it. But also it was bad and antifa did it. Strange.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Trump and his corporation are suffering business rejections from companies and sports associations.

Trump will be the first president to be impeached twice, within the next 48 hours.

FBI have uncovered plans by Trump thugs to attack all 50 State Capitol Buildings on the 20th. All armed protests. The National Guard must be called to protect those buildings.

FBI are tracking threats against Biden, Harris and Pelosi.

The inauguration will have 15,000 National Guard.

9 ( +18 / -9 )

He will be off the frame anyway, and money from companies won’t flow anymore to those who supported this sedition. The only future he’ll have is a prime time in info wars, he’ll have luxury to roar alongside the psychotic Jones. Speaking of a muppet show ROFL.

Joke aside, this impeachment is purely symbolic but also a test for republicans to prove that their outrage regarding this insurrection is genuine.

I can find many Proud Boys on FBI wanted list for what they just did (just that one time) But I can't find any regarding all those government buildings destroyed by Antifa/BLM (many many times).

Which government buildings were destroyed by Antifa/BLM? Members of the Proud Boys have been previously arrested for violence.

There is no police evidence that during the BLM protests when riots and looting happened they were made by Antia/BLM.

Far-right groups in America such as the anti-government Boogaloo Boys have long used a host of tactics and platforms to incite violence, including dehumanizing memes, online forums and organized militias.

Biden has consistently condemned instances of violent protest.

What's ironic, at least for the GOP in the house and senate, is that Trump sent his mob to them. Trump didn't care if his party is also in the Capitol. Trump is a one man act, and now his act is over. Bye Trump.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

I'd like to see Trump impeached, but even if he is not, I can't see enough people supporting him for future public offices anyway, so what's the difference? Other than making him bear the shame of being impeached twice.

If fond guilty, he loses benefits of being a former President. He won't get a state burial, no honors, no library, no pension, no free medical care, and he will be a convicted felon so he can't hold any federal office - ever - even by appointment from his buddy Pence.

“incitement of insurrection”

Trump 'incited insurrection' and was aided at his rally by Giuliani and in congress by Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and others in the Republican insurrection caucus.

More worrying is what Trump's insurrectionists have planned on the 20th, not just in DC but in towns and cities across the country.

25th Trump. He's completely unstable and a danger to all law abiding citizens. His fellow thugs and his thugocracy must be stopped NOW.

Ah_soToday  07:51 am JST

a growing number of lawmakers say that step is necessary to ensure Trump can never hold elected office again.

We should be careful what we wish for. Trump is now unelectable. A week ago he posed a serious threat in 2024. Now he is would never win the election.

It's not a matter of national mood. It would render him legally ineligible to run for office again. The Senate is constitutionally allowed to impose that punishment/ban.

Article I Section 3 of the Constitution puts additional possible remedies in the hands of the Senate: “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments,” the Constitution reads. “No Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.” It goes on to say that “Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States.”

8 ( +11 / -3 )

zichi Today  07:18 am JST

Trump is highly likely to pardon himself.

With the unpredictability and instability of Trump, anything can happen.

Nonetheless, the US Department of Justice in 1974 clearly stated in what circumstances the US president can be pardoned:

"Under the fundamental rule that no one may be a judge in his own case, the President cannot pardon himself.

If under the Twenty-Fifth Amendment the President declared that he was temporarily unable to perform the duties of the office, the Vice President would become Acting President and as such could pardon the President. Thereafter the President could either resign or resume the duties of his office" (For more details, please refer to https://www.justice.gov/olc/opinion/presidential-or-legislative-pardon-president).

In the end, Trump's fate is in the hand of Pence who can either invoke constitutional authority under the 25th Amendment or pardon his sinful president.

The pubs are screaming for unity, without realizing they are the ones fighting unity by saying that Trump should be excused for their crimes. They talk about hurting the feelings of 74 million Americans who voted for Trump - what about the feelings of 81 million Americans who voted against him?

The pubs just want to live the American Dream: run rampant, then avoid taking any responsibility for your actions.

Is there anything more American on this planet?

There was a lot of quid pro quo there, the only power trump will have now is over a few brainless bigots and they are not useful to anyone now!!!

Ironically (and enjoyably), Trump has made himself useless to the overseas oligarchs due to his method of exit, which has resulted in him having very little influence of use to them moving forward.

I'm wondering if Putin will burn him or not. It would be great if Putin suddenly produced proof of all the funds he's been funneling Trump's direction, just to mess with him.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

I'd like to see Trump impeached, but even if he is not, I can't see enough people supporting him for future public offices anyway, so what's the difference? Other than making him bear the shame of being impeached twice.

That alone is a good enough reason.

There are $15 million other reasons too, that he will be denied if convicted.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

He did not explicitly or implicitly call for violence

Yes he did, proof:

8 ( +12 / -4 )

just looked through Trump's speech transcript from the January 6th rally. I've found the part where he incited violence- here it is:

No, that wasn't where he incited the violence. Try reading again. Everyone else could find it, I'm sure you'll be able to as well.

How about the federal court in Seattle? The police precinct buildings in Seattle AND Portland? Not to mention the two BILLION dollars of damage caused in the riots last summer. The small town of Kenosha Wisconsin alone saw 100 businesses torched and $50 million in damage due to rioting.

Yup, we talked about that a lot a few months ago. Terrible stuff. Now we're talking about the much more pressing issue of the President of the United States inciting his followers to physically attack the legislative branch of government and literally try to murder his own vice president. Among other things.

So you have no real evidence just wild conspiracies

No, it's QAnon's

You do understand, QAnon is the leading group in false conspiracies.

QAnon is a disproven and discredited far-right conspiracy theory alleging that a cabal of Satan-worshipping cannibalistic pedophiles is running a global child sex-trafficking ring and plotting against U.S. president Donald Trump, who is fighting the cabal. QAnon also commonly asserts that Trump is planning a day of reckoning known as the "Storm", when thousands of members of the cabal will be arrested. The conspiracy claim is entirely fictitious.

Are you telling me you believe that stuff?

While some have questioned impeaching the president so close to the end of his term, Democrats and others argue he must be held accountable for his actions and prevented from ever again seeking public office.

I agree with the Democrats and others

7 ( +14 / -7 )

Ah-so.

Whatever. Trump -- at best -- treasonously incited a mob to attack Congress. Most likely, he -- and those around him -- attempted a violent coup d'etat.

I'm in favor of him being impeached, but they should wait until the Senate can act on Biden's nominees and policies. He will be the only president actually convicted in an impeachment. At least Nixon had the wisdom to resign.

As far as Trump being banned from social media, he has been stoking far right activists for years and using social media to peddle his lies. It should have happened sooner. It will not stop extremism, but it will slow them down.

Their rounding up Trump supporters in nationwide dragnet

Hardly so dramatic, they are rounding up criminals that broke into the capital.

Very surprised that capital police didn't do a better job of photographing the criminals before letting them walk away. The outgoing chief of police said that the administration would not provide the necessary military support. White privilege is alive and well.

Most of the protestors at last years BML marches were peaceful.

@mrtinjp

Why would anyone want "Unity" with insurrectionists trying to overthrow the newly elected Democratic government? I would not want to be friends with people who attempted to commit treason and terrorize my country.

As an American (hypothetically), would you want to unify with the bombers in the 9/11 attacks?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Trump people were out to kidnap Nancy Pelosi and other politicians. Is that better than what BLM/Antifa did?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

The Dems will be making the same mistake as last time if, instead of throwing the book at him, they narrow the articles of impeachment down to one charge only. Trump should be slapped with multiple charges and being found guilty on just one will suffice to remove him from the WH, bar him from future office, strip him of his pension and perks thereby relieving taxpayers of supporting the deadbeat grifter and, to put the cherry on the cake, get him and his accomplices and enablers ready to be measured up for orange jumpsuits. And that will all make a nice history lesson with a happy ending for American children in future.

And that's why Trump Proud Boys will keep on fighting. Go Trump! Hey Trump people in Japan, will you return to the USA to fight the liberals and the Nancy Pelocies? Are you a real Trump supporter? No light weights allowed. They need to finish the job and kidnap Nancy Pelosi. They almost did, but failed and they need to try again so the election is not stolen from Trump. Now is the Trump holy war and according to Kenneth Copeland Jesus is on Trump's side.

So now you are advocating serious criminals actions to overthrow an open fair free safe elections? You are proposing the use of violence.

Which government buildings were destroyed by Antifa/BLM?

Lots of them according to Trump and Proud Boys on the State and federal level.

So you have no real evidence just wild conspiracies

They killed political leaders as well as lots of cops. I just don't know why the FBI is going after the Proud Boys for trying to rightfully trying to return the rule of law to Trump and did nothing to arrest all these BLM/Antifa people.

Because the FBI only arrest people who break the law.

I only see Proud Boys on FBI wanted lists and no BLM/Antifa people. Why is that? Because Trump people say the BLM/Antifa do the most damage.

Because Antifa/BLM are not wanted for criminal actions.

Just stoking more division.

Trump's drawn clear battle lines. His brand of authoritarianism v. the republic. He's made the issue binary. With great assistance from his fellow Republicans plus government keyboard warriors financed by Moscow, Beijing, Ankara and other states states where an authoritarian regime rules.

More republican officials are resigning even in the last few days.

My prediction is Trump himself resigns before the 20th. That's why he's not planning to attend the Biden inauguration.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump is highly likely to pardon himself.

Acting Security of Homeland Security Chad Wolf resigns.

No apologies from Trump.

Trump promised a peaceful handover of violence. Where is it?

3 ( +12 / -9 )

Trump's deranged rise to power was fueled by the actual resentment to the depredations of a neoliberal, political party duopoly controlled by oligarchs which he channeled into racist, xenophobic rage.

This is not going away under a neoliberal Biden administration unless drastic reforms are made.

Their rounding up Trump supporters in nationwide dragnet

1 ( +9 / -8 )

a growing number of lawmakers say that step is necessary to ensure Trump can never hold elected office again.

We should be careful what we wish for. Trump is now unelectable. A week ago he posed a serious threat in 2024. Now he is would never win the election.

However, he might well win the Republican nomination, given the hardcore far right and evangelical wing backing he has. He would then lose the election.

Now we might get a Trump mark 2 who has broader appeal and more dangerously, has plans other than just attaining power. A hardcore evangelical right-winger who wants to do things. Not something I would welcome.

Ted Cruz looks like he has his eyes on that spot, but I don't think it will be him.

The Proud Boys wanted to kidnap Pelosi....or even worse

Almost 6-7 months of looting.arson.rioting

I can find many Proud Boys on FBI wanted list for what they just did (just that one time) But I can't find any regarding all those government buildings destroyed by Antifa/BLM (many many times). The FBI are only targeting the fine Proud Boys? What's going on?

I'm in the U.S. now and it's a totally failed state. No one believes in the institutions of the country anymore. No one wants the country to exist anymore. There's nothing left to be a traitor to. If they want to go after Trump and the rest that's fine. The place is finished. It's like hanging a traitor to Rome. Who cares? Rome fell a long time ago.

All of these issues would vanish overnight if our political parties stopped playing political theater and partisanship and instead governed according to the will of their constituents.

But no, we have a power-hungry billionaire class to protect.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

All the msm news is narrative based and mostly left aligned..

Wrong! Fox News beats CNN in ratings all the time. Same with OANN and NewsMax

It was 80M or 82M or what was the real figure.. but than any number could be achieved..personally I will go with 100M.

Which government buildings were destroyed by Antifa/BLM?

Lots of them according to Trump and Proud Boys on the State and federal level. They killed political leaders as well as lots of cops. I just don't know why the FBI is going after the Proud Boys for trying to rightfully trying to return the rule of law to Trump and did nothing to arrest all these BLM/Antifa people. I only see Proud Boys on FBI wanted lists and no BLM/Antifa people. Why is that? Because Trump people say the BLM/Antifa do the most damage.

I just looked through Trump's speech transcript from the January 6th rally. I've found the part where he incited violence- here it is:

I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.

..oops, nevermind

Shhhh! Get out of here with your facts!

How about the federal court in Seattle? The police precinct buildings in Seattle AND Portland? Not to mention the two BILLION dollars of damage caused in the riots last summer. The small town of Kenosha Wisconsin alone saw 100 businesses torched and $50 million in damage due to rioting.

Have any leading Democrats or well-known liberals been accused of inciting any of that? If not it's a bit of a false equivalency.

Well, that is the point, isn´t it? Democrat leaders encouraged it, took the knee, told police to stand down, chanted slogans with the rioters, yet the media called it "peaceful protests".

What if one’s a republican, however not a Trumpophile?

Dose the demographic espouse to a post neo grand old party trump rejectionist establishment conservative?

Had a conversation yesterday with friend committed to vote for a Trumplite agenda.

I was afraid to enquire into any political meaning and brought a round of drinks.

I fear that Donald Trump will remain the focus of attention right up until the next US election.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Strangerland; might shock you, but yes I agree. The idiots trying to stop the vote by breaking in to the Capitol all need to be arrested. No excuses. It is the sad cherry on top of the crapcake that started with the 2016 campaign. I would prefer politics to be returned to a less prominent place in society. A place where, god forbid, we can talk about things without using words like "tards" or "bots" or "racists" or whatever.

I'd like to see Trump impeached, but even if he is not, I can't see enough people supporting him for future public offices anyway, so what's the difference? Other than making him bear the shame of being impeached twice.

That is disgusting, no doubt. Still, we don't know who did it, or why.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

@Lazarus Knows

The right seem to be saying that the insurrection was good and cool, and that they liked it. But also it was bad and antifa did it. Strange.

Yeah, because it's totally unimaginable that people in a group (you imagine them to be in) may actually disagree on some things. How about not lumping people in groups like "Right" and "Left" and just seek the Truth, which takes no sides. Oh, because that would take THINKING, instead of just knee-jerk reactions against ThE oThEr SiDe.

Trump’s speech that ‘incited’ Capitol violence: Full transcript

Obviously nothing Trump said or did meet the legal threshold of incitement, but impeachment is a political exercise. So far none of the protestors have even been charged with insurrection (only disorderly conduct and other sundry offences). It would be odd to impeach a President for inciting a crime for which the principal hasn't been charged, let alone convicted.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

The time has come to reflect on what is the difference between Americans and Democrats. Americans, Left or Right, are against violent protests and riots. However, Democrats have failed to decry the riots and protests that started from the spring of last year.

If there is to be unity in America, the Left (Pelosi, AOC, Biden, etc.) and the Right (McConnell, Blunt, etc.) need to listen to the American people, not the elites.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

However, he might well win the Republican nomination, given the hardcore far right and evangelical wing backing he has.

He has not got the 74M votes from the hardcore far right and evangelical wing, those votes are only a small fraction.. high majority of votes have come from blue/white collar workers (all races ), military and naturalized immigrants.. that's what the Left is very worried.. and that's why they want to demonise Trump.

Almost 6-7 months of looting.arson.rioting is all forgotten and one single incident is being over-played 24*7 as the Trump card to get to Trump.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

If there is to be unity in America, the Left (Pelosi, AOC, Biden, etc.) and the Right (McConnell, Blunt, etc.) need to listen to the American people, not the elites...

That's the thing, nobody wants that unity.. and forget Trump ..at-least Biden should be calling for healing and Unity..and that should have been the msm narrative.. but as we, see so far nobody wants that.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Democrats prepare 'incitement of insurrection' charge against Trump

Ridiculous. This is truly Banana republic stuff. But it makes sense in the context that the swamp (both neocons and neolibs) set an example with Trump to make sure that no other populist outsider dares to disturb the cosy corrupt system.

The old Stalin rule: punish one, deter many.

All the msm news is narrative based and mostly left aligned.. In that narrative you only mention what suits your view point, and do it 24*7.. and right now Capitol is the narrative..

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

I notice you didn't put police in there or they expendable now.

Yes, including police.. the left or rather the radical left is de-funding them., maybe that's why they allowed those rioters inside the Capitol..

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

My question you all is, why do you care? The US isn't even a nation anymore. Why do you care if someone is a traitor to it? Are you fervent right wing nationalists who want a strong nation state or something?

Just a few things censored from the Net: 1) DC Police moving barricades aside to let protesters move up the Capitol Building steps. 2) ANTIFA fliers calling for members to go to DC wearing MAGA hats. 3) ANTIFA members breaking Capitol Building windows, Trump supporters grabbing them and pulling them away saying "we don't do that!" "this guy is ANTIFA!" 4) Trump supporters chanting against ANTIFA during the "insurrection", 5) Vice Prez Mike Pence receiving a mysterious coin during a handshake with a senator after the voting had finished (rather creepy, actually) 6) Trump video calling for protesters to go home in peace (removed from Twitter twice) 7) Some ANTIFA members at the DC protest have already been identified NOTE: I'm anti-censorship, NOT pro-Trump (not pro-Biden either).

Congress can't charge anyone. Congress has no police nor prosecution power. They can only pass resolutions, statues, and regulations.

The guy is gone in 8 days anyway. Stop wasting time.

Besides, that the 1st Amendment is about the government not being able to take away ones right to free speech, not about Mark Zuckerberg or Jack Dorsey kicking you off of their social media platform.

Wait - Zuckerburg and Dorsey didn’t build that! Isn’t that right?

Half the country think he is protecting democracy from the Democrats. They are starting a fire.

Yup.

They think they can cower and silence 74 million Americans. They are wrong.

This is not the way to heal the country.

-21 ( +4 / -25 )

The Democrats and their ilk are useless. Banning Trump from Twitter will rile millions, removing someone’s freedom to communicate is obviously a dark path to go down. Impeaching Trump too will do nothing but strengthen his fan base. Half the country think he is protecting democracy from the Democrats. They are starting a fire.

-22 ( +3 / -25 )

What Trump said on that day cannot legally be said to be inciting a riot. He did not explicitly or implicitly call for violence. But it was seriously wrong to continue a fight after he had lost in court. The fact is, Trump actually said the opposite of incitement:

“I know everyone here will soon be marching over to the capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”.

But we know that the media will use the same “good people on both sides” slight of hand to obscure this reality.

I understand the frustration after four years of illegitimate investigations based on the Hillary / DNC phony dossier, relentless attacks by the Dems, harassment by the media, and collusion against him by the tech giants. There have been very little consequences for the Russia collusion fiasco - the closest thing to a coup in American history. Only one mid-level FBI lawyer has been found guilty at this point for his role in undermining the FISA process. The American Right have been law enforcements biggest supporters. Now the FBI will have no real support from either side. That can only be good news for the bad guys.

The Left’s nuclear tactics worked to get under Trumps skin and cause him to impulsively help in his own re-election defeat. A tactic the other must use to remain competitive. Trump also undermined the Republicans efforts to address any of the relatively minor election process issues that Dems use to their advantage. Still - no excuse for carrying on the fight past the certification by the states. That is what federalism is all about and what makes the electoral college a unique gift to American democracy.

The Clown is gone. All hail President Digits (Tara Reade knows what I’m referring to).

-22 ( +1 / -23 )

But storming the Capital in an attempt to murder elected officials is?

"Storming"...

They were practically let in.

Every other country (except the Ukraine in 2014) seems able to protect their legislative building by being stormed by protestors, why can't the US?
