After taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court (twice), I'm really looking forward to see what he so desperately did not want us to see.

Excellent news.

23 ( +25 / -2 )

About time! Drain and clean the Trump swamp. Let everyone see what he's been hiding.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

Still the center of the US political universe.

-25 ( +3 / -28 )

One story, among many, that needs to be more well known is Trump's collusion with vulture private equity firm investor Carl Icahn on the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City. They managed to defraud the city, workers and a host of fellow investors.

18 ( +19 / -1 )

Since they failed miserably at trying to delegitimize Trump, and that rather both support and popularity for Trump increased from 2016 to 2020, it seems the next connivance is to try to erode Trump’s popularity by squandering millions of taxpayers’ money on frivolous law suits.

Still the center of the US political universe.

Center? Trump remains a creature of the fringe. Florida-man after all.

squandering millions of taxpayers’ money on frivolous law suits

Squander is in the eye of the partisan. If cities and states can get back some of the money Trump is found to owe them, their citizens will benefit.

Speaking of squandering...

Trump’s election fraud falsehoods have cost taxpayers $519m — and counting

Good, let’s see what this crook has been up to!!!!

23 ( +25 / -2 )

So, what's the big deal? He's got nothing to hide, right? These records should only show just how smart and successful he is, shouldn't they?

WELL, SHOULDN'T THEY?!???!

Although this is the correct outcome, it is still an abysmal failure of the judicial system. This outcome never should have been in doubt, nor should it ever have been able to have been drawn out so long. Donald Trump's entire career has been marked by abuse of the legal system, to his advantage and to the disadvantage of people who do not have his resources. If Trump's tax returns had been out earlier, there is a chance his malfeasance would have been more obvious before the election. Justice delayed is justice denied, and the entire legal profession should look long and hard in a mirror about how they enabled the corruption and law breaking not just of Trump but of his entire administration.

21 ( +23 / -2 )

I liked Trump as POTOS but I suspect he is a tax cheat.

-17 ( +2 / -19 )

Since they failed miserably

And who is "they" exactly? The Supreme Court?

and that rather both support and popularity for Trump increased from 2016 to 2020,

Haha, that's funny :)

16 ( +18 / -2 )

Is the payment of hush money to porn stars a legitimate tax deduction ?

21 ( +22 / -1 )

because he has long fought on so many fronts to keep his tax records shielded from view.

Not just shielded from view, but shielded from prosecutors.

I'm sure the thin-skinned man baby would have issues with his finances being publicly scrutinized since they probably show he is not the success he puffed about. As I have read, he has a lot of debt coming due, and there are no banks left to bail him out after he burned all the major banks.

The bigger issues are the many tax positions that can lead to legal trouble, e.g., overstating the value of land in claiming a conservation deduction, deducting personal expenses (Stormy Daniels and the like), overstating finances when applying for loans.

19 ( +20 / -1 )

Is the payment of hush money to porn stars a legitimate tax deduction ?

if not Ordinary and Necessary, then no, and I cannot see how it would meet the first test. Most weird payments (including luxury items) fail to meet the ordinary test.

In addition, if the payment itself was a violation of the law, it cannot be a deduction. It will be interesting to see how he characterized the payment. My guess, he claimed that they were legal fees.

Best case, he pays tax if he claimed it as a deduction. Worst case, he is involved with tax fraud by knowingly claiming the deduction. It is hard to believe that it wasn't knowingly claimed.

Grab ya popcorn I can see man child going into mega meltdown...One thing I find amusing is Trump supporters complaining about the costs when their man spent over 100 million-plus just on golf alone in the 4 years he was squatting..

18 ( +20 / -2 )

Even revealing him and them as a crime family thru the release of his tax returns (albeit very late in the game) still wouldn’t convince the sad little trumpeteers that their dear leader is a toxic waste of space.

18 ( +19 / -1 )

Still the center of the US political universe.

Actually, he's the joke of the US political universe.

18 ( +21 / -3 )

As president, Trump should have voluntarily shown his tax returns. Obviously, there is something(a lot) to hide, as he has cheated and lies, his gaslight specialty. I'm happy to see the SCOTUS now free of his power of the presidency and it will no longer protect him. Actually, nothing will, he's upset a lot of people who will push hard to show his guilt.

Getting the numbers public is another thing. I hope there is clarity for everyone to see.

For supporters of Trump, they should be happy as well. Trump's taxes should show nothing bad, right??!? Um, seriously, don't hold your breath on that one, I think ya'll know he's a weasel and avoided taxes while spending on questionable, if not criminal activity.

Excuses and straw man arguments like quit using US taxpayer dollars on his prosecution sidesteps the reality we must find out why Donald Trump refused to show his tax returns as every president had done, before him.

Mr. NoidallToday  07:16 am JST

... it seems the next connivance is to try to erode Trump’s popularity by squandering millions of taxpayers’ money on frivolous law suits.

Surely they won't waste their time or anyone's money and make idiots of themselves in court if Trump's tax records don't contain any evidence of wrongdoing?

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Surely they won't waste their time or anyone's money and make idiots of themselves in court if Trump's tax records don't contain any evidence of wrongdoing?

Exactly. I doubt the Manhattan District Attorney would launch over 60 crazy lawsuit attempts based on a complete pipe dream, he's not Rudy Giuliani.

18 ( +20 / -2 )

Since they failed miserably at trying to delegitimize Trump, and that rather both support and popularity for Trump increased from 2016 to 2020, it seems the next connivance is to try to erode Trump’s popularity by squandering millions of taxpayers’ money on frivolous law suits.

Hey, it worked for Capone.

16 ( +17 / -1 )

Glad the Trump Circus is going to continue a bit longer. I need my fix line an addict.

We all know Trump doesn't pay tax, but the extent to which is just aggressive avoidance or actual evasion will be the interesting thing.

Prison, bankruptcy or both?

17 ( +19 / -2 )

Still the center of the US political universe.

He's certainly the center of the Trump-world cult, just like Jim Jones and Charles Manson...

Since they failed miserably at trying to delegitimize Trump, and that rather both support and popularity for Trump increased from 2016 to 2020,

He was delegitimized on Jan 6th - just ask McConnell or Liz Cheney...

it seems the next connivance is to try to erode Trump’s popularity by squandering millions of taxpayers’ money on frivolous law suits.

And I'll wager they'll have a record a whole bunch better than 1-64...

11 ( +13 / -2 )

The clock is ticking. Maybe now the "Real Swamp" will be drained.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Re: 9:20 am JST “Glad is going to continue a bit longer. I need my fix line (like?!?) an addict.” - To quote Your own posts: “it would be far easier if you wrote in plain English” -

Yes, very much like Trump, *@9:20am JST, *you need your daily ‘ego-stroking’ or,

you lash out at others like the ‘Big Baby’ “Trump and Your ilk” are known to be.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Cohen has already told us what this is all about - he was the one that did it - under Trump's direction;

*The district attorney’s office has said little publicly about the probe, but noted in court filings that the investigation was focused on “possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct” at the Trump Organization, including alleged falsification of records, and insurance and tax fraud. It is the only known criminal inquiry into Trump’s business practices.*

*Separately, New York state Attorney General Letitia James is leading a *civil probe into whether Trump’s company falsely reported property values to secure loans and obtain economic and tax benefits.

*Both investigations are examining whether *Trump’s company placed artificially high values on several major commercial properties in documents used to secure favorable loan arrangements, while diminishing the value of those properties in filings used as a basis for calculating its tax bills.

Is it any wonder Trump continued, and will continue, to propagate the "Big Lie"? It's his only way to avoid prosecution - to stay in office...

But that scam failed - and now he'll be held accountable - along with Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, Jared, et al....

Time for a family reunion at Rikers Island!

11 ( +12 / -1 )

try to erode Trump’s popularity by squandering millions of taxpayers’ money on frivolous law suits.

Such a frivolous case that Trump took it to the Supreme Court twice to try to stop the release of his tax records. And it's not a law suit. Bit more serious than that.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Ok and then what? Won’t get Trump arrested, won’t stop him from running or be involved in politics, but if it’s to give the libs a sniff high, I guess it’s big news and important what Trump did before he got into politics. It’s going to stop COVID and knowing this will create jobs, unify the country, people will sleep easier know what Trump did in his business dealings 20 years ago. Maybe now they can finally relax and release that tight muscle put all of this to sleep and the country can move on not focus of this former President.

-19 ( +0 / -19 )

Ok and then what?

If there’s evidence of criminal conduct, prosecute! A supporter of the ‘Law and Order’ party should probably know that.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

He was delegitimized on Jan 6th - just ask McConnell or Liz Cheney...

Yeah, that's why you all just can't stop talking about him. One would hardly know there is a guy called Biden the way everyone keeps prattling on about Trump.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

He was delegitimized on Jan 6th - just ask McConnell or Liz Cheney...

Yeah, that's why you all just can't stop talking about him. One would hardly know there is a guy called Biden the way everyone keeps prattling on about Trump.

Isn't it interesting how Trump supporters, who say they idolize and adore him, can't seem to recognize his name in the title of this article...

Hmmmm....

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Still the center of the US political universe

Fun fact: Leavenworth KS is very close to the geographical center of the United States. The 2 shall soon unify.

Trump won’t get arrested, won’t stop him running.

I’d take that bet. He will be indicted. He will face trail on multiple criminal charges in multiple jurisdictions.

Let’s face it, Trump is well and totally screwed. And he knows it. That’s why he tried to incite a coup against a legally elected co-equal branch of government. It was the only way he was not going to spend the rest of his life in courtrooms and prison.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Ok and then what?

Ever heard the Johnny Cash tune "Folsom Prison Blues"?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDktBZzQIiU&ab_channel=flipperdolfin

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Yeah, that's why you all just can't stop talking about him.

Lolz The reason he's being talked about now is because he refused to hand over his tax returns for so long. Had he turned them over, this story never would have been necessary and we wouldn't be talking about him on JT. Why would totally innocent Donald want to hide his tax returns from the prosecutors? Hmmm... :D

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Won’t get Trump arrested

Just like you said Mr. Trump would not lose the election? If you are wise you would not place any bets on Mr. Trump not being arrested. The crimes the Manhattan District Attorney are investigating are criminal and carry prison sentences. If what he reported in his taxes differs significantly from what he told banks and insurance companies then there would be compelling evidence to convict him.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Want to know how much legal jeopardy Trump is in? Read his shabolic “statement.”

He is in deep trouble and he knows it.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Ever heard the Johnny Cash tune "Folsom Prison Blues"?

I prefer Ice Cube’s Check yo’self more...

Just like you said Mr. Trump would not lose the election?

or like you said, Trump would be impeached and removed and Mueller will lock him up.

If you are wise you would not place any bets on Mr. Trump not being arrested.

If? Lol

The crimes the Manhattan District Attorney are investigating are criminal and carry prison sentences. If what he reported in his taxes differs significantly from what he told banks and insurance companies then there would be compelling evidence to convict him.

Again, not going to prison, they’ll try and fail again, but yes, they’ll get a little high for the moment and let’s move on.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Again, not going to prison,

Are you saying Trump never commited any crimes ever, or that he should not be imprisoned even if he did?

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Are you saying Trump never commited any crimes ever,

Never been convicted on any crimes that would ask for incarcerating the man.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Never been convicted on any crimes that would ask for incarcerating the man.

Probably because he's never been made to turn over his tax returns. Until now. :D

12 ( +13 / -1 )

I guess it’s big news and important what Trump did before he got into politics. It’s going to stop COVID and knowing this will create jobs, unify the country, people will sleep easier know what Trump did in his business dealings 20 years ago.

Lock him up! Lock him up!

The voice of law and order eh?

The lawyer who helped dismantle and prosecute the Gambino and Gotti crime families is now working with the Manhattan Prosecutor's case investigating the Trump Org...

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance recently hired a mob-busting ex-prosecutor to help him investigate former President Donald Trump over a range of alleged financial fraud — and the new member of the team has already interviewed a key player in the high-profile probe, according to people familiar with the matter.

*Mark Pomerantz, a veteran white-collar attorney who prosecuted former Gambino crime family boss John “Junior” Gotti and other mobsters in the 1990s, was tapped by Vance as a special assistant district attorney **on Feb. 3, said Danny Frost, a spokesman for the DA.*

https://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ny-gotti-prosecutor-manhattan-da-trump-probe-20210219-3fom2mx7g5bwdayit5dxg4hqna-story.html

And one of the charges John Gotti was put away for? Tax evasion...

John and Don...just call them cons...

9 ( +10 / -1 )

He's going to die alone, broke and broken in prison.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Never been convicted on any crimes that would ask for incarcerating the man.

That doesn't answer the question at all. Do you think he should go to jail if his tax returns show any proof of criminal activity?

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Probably because he's never been made to turn over his tax returns. Until now. :D

Going after him 20 years later, I see another victory for Trump, one for harassment and 2 20 years of tax irrelevancy, hope the Dems go for it. Lol

Do you think he should go to jail if his tax returns show any proof of criminal activity?

Nope, just like the same way Hillary and Hunter and so many of the Washington establishment have squandered their taxes in mischievous ways, they get a pass, so should Trump, so either hold one standard or just be politically selective, take your pick, I’ll support either option.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Ghosh bless him, but all he needs in supermax prison is diet coke, well-done steak, french fries, ketchup and snickers bars. He can live peacefully doing a life sentence.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Nope,

OK! So, good to know you are actively for crime and against justice.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

one for harassment and 2 20 years of tax irrelevancy, hope the Dems go for it. Lol

Daww, poor little Donald is being harassed because he has to turn over his tax returns. It's so unfair, what kind of country so we live in when the Donald isn't allowed to lie, cheat, and steal. That's not an America I want to live in. :D

12 ( +13 / -1 )

There's still complete silence on Biden's China and Ukraine payments.

Probably because it's right-wing garbage, and in no way based in reality.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

The Supreme Court is corrupt and compromised, like the rest of DC.

That’s what Q is saying! (Anonymously)

Let’s see Obama’s grades.

And his birth certificate!

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Trump is such a Loser, he couldn't even stock the supreme court with people who would support him.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

He has a history of scamming people.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

donald is for law and order as long as it doesn’t apply to him.

His idiot supporters are too stupid to understand.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Perhaps he tried to write off payments to the ladies he had to buy out?
