Indeed, those 2 own-goal were unfortunate.

Work life balance in japanese companies?
A 4-day work week in Japan will not happen this century.

Suga calls on public to watch Olympics on TV as Japan eases state of emergency
If you are one of the 80% of the population in Japan that are against the event going ahead, as I am, just don’t watch it!

Why are Olympics going on despite public opposition, medical warnings?
Pure ignorance and greed (Japanese Government and IOC).

Overall spent less money.
However spent more online when compared with pre-covid times.
Why going to a store and risk getting infected when I can just order online and get it on the same day, or following day?
Of course there are exceptions in which I have the preference to go to the store in person.

Economics people... economics!
Vietnam is a sleeping giant, that’s why.
Just wait and see... then understand why all this “kindness” from J Gov.

Follow the rules when the Olympics open in just over five weeks, or else expect a warning or a fine - or anything in between.
Athletes and their teams, most of them participating in what is probably the only version of the Olympic Games they will be part of...
Good luck convincing them to behave threatening with “warnings” or “something in between”.

Brilliant and simple explanation.
Thank you for sharing.

Tokyo is a great place to live, however you must work for an international company that has a very flexible working culture when compared to the local one, and with a very generous salary to be able to afford to enjoy life.
If you miss one of those you’ll not be having a good time.
If you have those covered... you’ll have a great time in Tokyo.

Japan is leaning toward allowing domestic spectators at the Tokyo Olympics despite the COVID-19 pandemic
How desperate can you be to recover some of the losses from these Olympic games.
With basically no one vaccinated with both vaccines in Japan, how can you justify this “leaning towards” apart from only an economic view?
LDP and IOC priorities are very clear:
0% Public Health

Members of media from abroad covering Olympics to be tracked by GPS
In simple words, a phone app.
Leave the phone at the hotel and there you go...
Just another “half-measure” to boost confidence/brain wash the japanese people regarding the Olympics to be a “safe event”, with “no risk”.

Very very sad news every time something like this happen.
This happens way too often in Japan though, and should not be ignored or considered “stats only”.
May he Rest in Peace.

Thought cannabis oil was already legal in Japan, considering its many proven benefits for some health issues.
Don’t agree with any type of smuggling, but it’s time for the government to look into these alternatives medicines.
Not only for the obvious: public health, but also as they would be able to regulate and tax it.
Wake up call!

Eco-friendly Tokyo Olympic podium, medals, music unveiled
It might even be an eco-friendly event, but it will never be, for sure, a japanese-people-friendly event.

Tokyo nightlife bustles despite state of emergency
Government “urges” people to be careful.
Government doesn’t cancel Olympic Games, where thousands of people from more than 150 different countries will be arriving, basically with no quarantine restrictions.
What do you expect young people to do with all this mixed messages and contradiction?

The Tokyo Olympics chief on Thursday said the Games would only be canceled in extreme circumstances.
Worst global pandemic in a century not “extreme enough”?
Specially considering cases in Japan are out of control, only a tiny portion of the population vaccinated (most with only one dose of the vaccine). On top of that you want to bring people from what 150 different countries?
If this is not extreme enough to cancel...

Man arrested for ruining fruit at supermarket
This is what crime is around here... poking fruit at a supermarket!
How good would be if the rest of the world was safe like this.
Unfortunately as soon as you leave Japan you need to hide your wallet otherwise consider it gone.
The only good part is that they might let you keep your fruit if you are carrying some lol.

Of those, 1,432, including athletes for test events and broadcasting personnel, were exempted from Japan's 14-day self-quarantine requirement.
Ask the japanese people to “stay home” and be careful, but thousands of athletes coming from all over the world can come and not go through a strict quarantine.

Mass vaccinations in Tokyo
What kind of idiotic propaganda is this?
10,000/day in Tokyo is SLUGGISH, not mass vaccination.
Mass vaccination in such large city would be 300,000/day.
This government really uses and misleads its good people.

raising the maximum number of inoculations per day to 10,000 in Tokyo
Metropolitan Tokyo Area has around 38 million people, but lets consider the 9 million this article mentions, which is referred to the 23 wards:
9 million / 10,000 = 900
900/365 = 2,46 years.
Considering the usual J-Gov bureaucracy and delays, lets be positive and hope we will take...
At least 4 years to vaccinate the Tokyo population.

Olympic athletes were told by the IOC on Thursday that a waiver they must sign releasing Tokyo organizers from liability for COVID-19 issues was “standard practice” for major sports events.
This is beyond sad at this point.
I used to be a huge fan of the Olympic Games.
Never again, as this revealed the real “Olympic $pirit”.
I hope the japanese people’s voice is heard and this event is cancelled last minute, as it should.

Major Japanese newspaper Asahi calls for Olympic cancelation
I don’t know if it will be cancelled even with all the pressure from these companies.
However it is fantastic to see even an Olympic partner coming out to push for cancellation.
This gives me some hope for the future of this brilliant country that is Japan.
Keep fighting until its cancelled japanese people, show who is in charge here and why this is such a special place in the world.

Why would US even care?
Most it its citizens, and consequently athletes, are vaccinated and will get proper testing on the way back.
Japan should be the one cancelling the games, as its the one with its population at risk.
But Japan is stubborn and never goes back with its word... saving face they say!
