If they changed the CG from a subdivision of the Ministry of Land and Infrastructure, to the Ministry of Defense (as is the international norm) they could use the Kawasaki “Seahawk” variant of the UH-60 “Blackhawk” and share the integrated network system with the MSDF.

The Asian in America is given citizenship and a vote. The foreigner in Asia rarely gets any such thing, even generations down the line.

in the US, as in Japan, naturalized citizens are given the right to vote. Giving residents who choose not to take citizenship the right to vote would not be in the countries best interest.

Violent men with knives are so common in Japan.

Tell me about it. It seems I can’t even walk 300m to my Lawsons without being ambushed 5 times by knife wielding maniacs.

Japan is one country that needs more hunters. The extinction of the Japanese Wolf has led to a population explosion of deer, boar and non-apex predators such as weasels and badger.

The crop damage in Chiba alone is over 300mill Y per year, and deer and boat population is past the environmentally sustainable mark.

I refuse to go deer/boar hunting with my local hunting club here. Those old guys are way too shaky and trigger-happy. I only ever go alone or with non-Japanese friends who have proper gun experience.

The younger generation of hunters usually only tag along with older Hunter’s Association members to get tips on good hunting spots.

There are a lot of former and active duty SDF members in my local club and one retired Marine. They are always a pleasure to hit the trails with.

Except there was no bucket and the helicopter released the water from inside. But it looked ridiculously tiny and missed the spot.

When fighting large fires, it’s pointless to try to extinguish the fire itself. Firefighters generally attempt to stop it from spreading by wetting the surrounding area and clear cutting fire-breaks and sometimes even “fighting fire with fire” by control burning downwind from the fire to rob it of fuel.

However, the project is off to a bad start if it's going to be build on farmland, or worse, forested/natural land.

I understand your concern, but there isn’t much arable land at the base of Fuji. Around the Susono/Gotemba area, there are only small patches of farmable land where locals grow tea or rice for small-scale production. The rest is gravel and rocks on steep hills. Toyota has their main test track, and the army, their artillery range at the base of Fuji for that very reason. It’s not suitable for agriculture or urbanization.

'Takeshima' literally means: bamboo island 竹島, but there is no bamboo in Takeshima.

By that logic, the Korean claim is bunk as well. Dokdo “独島” literally means “solitary island.” But it is part of a group of islands and not solitary at all.

It's not a short-term tactical training exchange program, he was learning to fly a fighter jet from scratch in the US.

Ummm, yes... The entire point of the program is to have Japanese fighter pilots attend and graduate USAF flight school to enhance interoperability for future joint operations. The Marines, Army, and Navy all have similar programs, where SDF NCOs and officers attend US military schoolhouses.

Meaning the JASDF pilot trainee was getting his basic flight training in the US for some unknown reason.

It’s part of an exchange student program to enhance interoperability. When I was active duty, we had JSDF junior NCOs live and work with us as part of the same exchange programs.

Although I understand your suspicion, his suicide could have been for a number of reasons, job-related or not. Maybe he had crippling debt, girlfriend dumped him, secretly gay, or any other personal reason is not something the deceased or the relatives of the deceased would want to be made public.

@Brian Wheway

I’m not sure. Why do some people go out in the woods to kill themselves. People who are about to put a gun to their head usually aren’t thinking straight.

Posted in: Police officer found dead in apparent suicide See in context

How did no one hear a gunshot inside a police station?

Because although gunshots are quite loud, the sound frequency does not travel well through walls, etc. He may have also used any number of items from a bottle to a pillow or even just pressing the muzzle firmly against his head to muffle the shock wave, which is the loudest part of a gunshot.

The .38 cal revolvers Japanese cops use would sound like a balloon popping or someone banging some wooden blocks together from 30yards away anyways.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that transgender persons would fake it just to succeed at sports, and furthermore, what incredibly small percentage of transgender persons are elite athletes as well.

In Connecticut, where transgenders have been allowed to compete against women since 2018, women’s track sports have been dominated by (biological male) trans athletes. Men with track times that wouldn’t even qualify them for the men’s team are taking the top slots in women’s track.

Wait, isn't this progressive?

Feminist have supported this idea. Why not give them what they want?

Real feminists, not the gender-politik SJWs, have been protesting this move for decades, because it denies women gender exclusivity. Like I said earlier, this is not about post-op transsexuals. This is about biological males who “feel” like women.

Posted in: Tennessee governor: Transgender athletes will 'destroy women's sports' See in context

Consider that in motor sports or any sport that uses a vehicle (cycling, skiing, bobsled, etc) there are very strict rules on vehicle dimensions, engine displacement, wheel radius, even fuel capacity. This is done to ensure fair play. If a male boxer fought a female boxer of the same weight category, it would be like a Silvia vs a K-car.

I would lean towards allowing post-op transsexuals to compete in women’s sports, but the executive order signed by Biden mandates that individuals must be allowed to compete in the gender category they “identify” as. So a fully biologically male can now compete against women.

I find it weird that those who support feminism have not been so vocal about this. Either that or the media is trying not to broadcast their opinion.

Real feminists are being quite vocal, but the media isn’t giving them a platform.

Part of the training may very well have been shadowing larger noisy ships. But given the secretive nature of submarine operations, we may never know the truth.

There was obviously a lot of negligence in play, and I expect to see the commander and possibly the fleet admiral’s head roll for this one.

I’m not a submariner, but from what I understand from the news reports and my limited knowledge of submarines, when a sub is surfacing, it loses most of its steering capabilities and pretty much only go up. The sub was training in an area with uncharted seabed and surfaced for safety reasons but was too late to avoid the ship.

If this was about money, the victim usually opts to settle out of court. If brought to criminal charges, the victim usually does not get compensated unless a additional civil suit is approved by the court.
