A semi-totalitarian one-party state like Japan is really not in a position to say anything.

the same should be said for a country who has the actual president elected by fraudolent votes

The only option to avoiding the use of nuclear weapons now and forever is to keep them readily available for use now and forever. Me Suga... Me smart."

surely is smarter than you

why the dictatorship in North Korea is still there and not whiped out like that one in Iraq ?

cause mr. Kim has nuclear weapons that prevent the country to be attacked by the defender of the freedoms, the united states of ammerica, the guys strong with the weaks and chicken with the strong, 20 years and not even yet able to free Afghanistan lol and just doing good in Syria or at least until the Russia came to defend the syrians from IS (which is an US creature made by the great Peace Nobel prize mr.president of the USA, fyi)

The a-bombing was a result of Japanese atrocities and the kamikaze attacks of peal harbor. Not condoning nuking as payback but I think Japan should stop playing victim as if they were angels of WW2

here is the US victim that plays the Pearl Harbor story...

Japan was forced to attack Pearl Harbor due to the trade restrictions made by the US, the rest is the history written by the winners

the US always play the role of victim, Pearl Harbor, the Nanchino accident, the Colin Powell speech at UN, lol

Have a little compassion people. This test taker was in his 40s and after being kicked out locked himself in a bathroom until the police came to get him out. This is very likely someone with a disability doing something outside of his comfort zone. I hope he can get another chance to take the test if it’s something he really wants to do.

I totally agree with you, most of comment here are shameful

(The "LDF", unfortunately, doesn't accept non-US addresses and their phone number didn't seen to work either, but the other seemed fine to donate to from Japan).

why ask people to donate to BLM movement ?

they don't get enought money from mr.Soros ???

Japan needs a backup city for Tokyo, the capital vulnerable to natural disasters, namely a large scale earthquake. Osaka can be a qualified candidate.

sure, because Osaka can't be hit by earthquakes like that one in Kobe in 1995 ?

Really need to pause, it all started let's not forget with excessive police violence resulting in death. Thet needs to be addressed. Sending troops against your own people is not what I would expect a 1st world action to be, China did it and is still trying to cover it up 30 years latter. Addresses the problem be honest, and people won't riot.

sure, people are looting shops, steal food and everything else, burning cars and shops and troops should not be sent

Do the hustleToday 11:54 am JST

So, are they ready to admit that relaxing the restrictions was premature and has resulted in the pandemic kicking off again?

With more than 50% of the new case not being traced to their source people should be very concerned.

social distancing and personal hygiene are the only real defense against the spread of this virus. How do you practice either when packed into a morning train with 500 other people in the sand carriage? The only way Tokyo and other major cities on Japan will defeat this virus is by shutting down Nippon Kaigi for a month, but economics come before public health. TIJ!

We are going to be back at square one, because people AND businesses are acting irresponsibly. The virus has not not magically disappeared; it's still here and its still infecting us. Been saying this for weeks and a lot people thought it was no big deal. I wish I were wrong, but I'm not!

don't worry, you are wrong

34 cases is nothing, there are a lot of european countries which would celebrate if they had 34 cases daily...

but of course, here the "we are doomed" thinking is always popular

Japan has been lauded in the international papers in the last few days for the handling of the situation.

I'm still wondering what Japan did. Japan has not done worse or better than any other country along the western side of the Pacific Ocean.

the virus that hit Far East Asia and the one which hit the west are different, there were 5 variations of this virus and there was just one country which had all of them

wanna guess which country is ?

the one which Pompeo and Colin Powell come from.

This is not true. Singapore is a prime example of a country which relaxed restrictions and then afterwards had a severe uptick.

We do agree that economies need to open however I think re-opening with caution and common sense measures should occur.

As long as Koike is mayor, Tokyo is doomed

I personally think she did much much better job than Abe ....if anyone is a reason for doom look to the national government.

she ignored corona virus until Olympic Games were postponed, why she didn't wear any mask before March 25 even if corona virus arrived in Japan at the end of January and in February there was the Diamond Princess case ?

this is enough to say she's not better than other politicians, and remember she creates a party just to disturb LDP and after she didn't get as much votes as she expected she resigns "I come back to Tokyo government", very pathetic and insulting all the people who gave her their trusts.

so tell me how many people died in Tokyo for corona virus, dead numbers can't be hide

Can you educate us why you think death cannot be hidden.

China last month revised upward by 1300 the death rate for Wuhan from Covid-19. They got away with under reporting it and felt guilt that the wuhan number was low after European and U.S numbers just kept on increasing.

As of Tuesday, there were 633 deaths in Japan attributed to the virus, far fewer than the some 80,000 in the U.S, and 32,000 in the U.K., with Japan having the fewest confirmed cases and deaths of any Group of Seven leading democracy. Japanese authorities have placed a high emphasis on identifying infection clusters and limiting their spread.

While authorities have acknowledged that, similar to other countries, the true size of the infection in Japan is unknown, they have said they’re confident in grasping the scale of the casualties. Tokyo, with an estimated population of about 14 million, has had the most confirmed cases in Japan, at almost 5,000.

read carefully this :

"The capital saw 33,106 deaths in the three months through March, 0.4% fewer than the average of the previous four years for the same period, according to data from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Data for April, when new daily virus cases peaked in the city, is not yet available."

5/8 134

5/9 155

5/10 253

5/11 108

5/12 72

5/13 87

so tell me how many people died in Tokyo for corona virus, dead numbers can't be hide

but remember we are talking about a 13mln people, not 30,000, so everything under 10,000 (which means 0,1%) is not worth for declaring a state of emergency
