Copy cat crimes abound in Japan.

Don't linger under the illusion that young men are not influenced by the visual media they watch.

@kaimycahl

What you are talking about and the reality of porn in Japan are (hopefully) completely different.

The porn industry in Japan is run to a large extent by criminal syndicates (prostitution and extortion being their traditional bread and butter).

In one typical scenario, young Japanese women are told they will be made a media star and told to come down for a video shoot, after they have signed a binding contract.

When they arrive and enter the studio, they find they are surrounded by men, and are raped (coerced into nonconsensual sex) on camera.

Look it up, it has been confirmed by police reports.

Monkey SEE (i.e. porn) Monkey DO...legitimized by the judicial system not really coming down on the perps. Maybe because the people producing the porn and the people governing the country are not so far apart.

And since it is so ubiquitous in porn, manga, etc., one wonders why even take the chance. Just buy some porn, or go to one of the many free sights.

They get inspired by the porn to experience the 'kick' firsthand, then want to share with their community by uploading, thereby encouraging others to get involved.

Nice analysis...which basically confirms the central role that porn (in lieu of adequate education from the comfort women denying gov't) plays in these crimes.

Posted in: Bogus electrician arrested over sexual assault of teenage girl See in context

It's not an argument.

It's a fact that many of these perps upload their assaults to porn-related sites.

Additionally, it's also well-known that the main purveyors of porn are criminal syndicates, who traffic women and trick/rape women for porn site content.

So all the "castrate them now" really just amounts to hot air, while your justifying your weakness for porn actually concretely supports the continued exploitation of the victims.

ToshihiroToday  06:03 pm JST

@blahblah222 - Oh yeah, true. It really makes me wonder that in a country that has insanely draconian punishments for super petty crimes (remember the guy who used the wrong coffee cup when getting his drink from the konbini, or the city government employee who got in trouble for punching out a minute earlier to catch the bus?), but are pretty lenient when it comes to crimes like these. Truly baffling.

It's not baffling at all when you consider that the LDP was founded by war criminals (reinstated by US authorities) who supported the 'comfort women' policies.

And people still reluctant to confront the role of porn in these types of crimes.

Perhaps because there is no conclusive link between sex crimes and porn:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_57c0876ae4b0b01630de8c93/amp

https://open.lib.umn.edu/sociology/chapter/11-4-violence-against-women-rape-and-pornography/

You can wait for the horses to come home before anyone finds clinical "conclusive" proof.

In the meantime generations of women and girls (in some extreme cases even babies) will be victimized by men raised on porn (they often record their assaults and post/share on sites).

Posted in: It’s just wrong that assault or intimidation is required to charge offenders with committing non-consensual sex. Any forms of non-consensual sex and sexual acts must be punished. See in context

Tip for one of the reasons why this law still isn't changed-

Tons of non-consensual crimes videotaped and sold in Japan. The huge syndicates who are the vendors are cozy with lawmakers (they often rally and actively support candidates).

Chalk up yet another one for the porn industry.

We all know child porn still thrives here- it's even actually technically legal to depict it in animation.

By the time people get around to shout "Lock him up!" "Castrate him now!" etc. the damage is already done, in this case to a four-year old.

If you you don't address the core influences on Japan's youth which can lead to this type of predatory behavior/maintains the status quo regarding laws and punishment for sexual assault/rape (the sexist attitude and behavior in porn is right up the conservative politicians' alley), we're going to just keep on seeing these acts repeated ad nauseum.
