There are absolutely tons of bars/clubs in Shibuya and izakaya's in Shimbashi and other places openly defying these "restrictions" so enforcement of these is obviously non existent. I don't care much for clubs but I can fully understand why bars/izakaya's are now ignoring the govt - their livelihoods are being destroyed, their life savings are being destroyed and the govt simply doesn't care. I saw an interview on TV about 2 weeks ago where an izakaya owner said after 4 months he was still waiting on his compensation money to be paid. Either pay proper compensation to these places in a prompt manner, or they should be allowed to open until midnight.

What about those millions of people getting their vaccine through work? - they are not relying on the govt voucher at all.

not sure why this comment gets downvoted - its factually correct and its a legitimate question.

maybe some people are just annoyed that some are able to get their vaccinations through work - I don't know why that would be but oh well, if it makes them feel better, so be it.

When we got our jabs the nurse put a sticky label on our vouchers (sent through the post, what you need to make an appointment) with the date, type of jab, clinic's stamp and a QR code, which I assume is intended as proof of vaccination.

What about those millions of people getting their vaccine through work? - they are not relying on the govt voucher at all.

so this means when you get your vaccine, you need to be provided with some sort of proof.

On a tiny island, it can.

So it would of worked in Japan as well then.

If the virus is indeed globally endemic we will see what happens once they relax that isolation.

They will like many other countries, implement a vaccine passport type system and will only allow in vaccinated folks. Does anyone here in Japan, who has been vaccinated yet know if you are provided some sort of certificate as proof?

Why are they wearing masks? - they are in the middle of a stadium which is 90% empty. Oh that's right, the cameras are there so its pretend time.

I assume the picture on the front page today contains a sign saying something about a vaccination center. Would it have been so difficult to have the the words "Vaccination Center" written on it so at least those folks who do not read Japanese know they are in the right place?

And Japan can't do even the most crucial websites, even in English?

What's really annoying is when the information in the Japanese and English version of the same website do not match - the immigration website was (is?) a classic example, where the criteria for a particular service differed depending on if you were reading the Japanese or English version. My wife thought I had not applied correctly (as my application got rejected), until she realized the Japanese version had an additional criteria not listed in the English version.

Any company can apply...

No, currently the company must have a minimum of 1000 employees.

My company has already applied for this too - we have an onsite company doctor who normally provide the yearly flu vaccination so all we need now is an appropriate fridge and the vaccines.

So if you have a pre-existing medical condition, you have to go to your doctor, get a certificate that says you have a medical condition, then submit that to your ward office, who will then send you a vaccination voucher sometime in the future. Wow - that sounds really efficient.

Of course the logical thing to do, is to just go to your doctor, who probably already knows your medical history, and you can get the vaccine shot right then and there.

No demands from the hackers ?

The health board is refusing to pay, and are adamant the never will, hence the release of the patient information. They would rather rebuild their systems from scratch.

This discourages people from being tested and I am not sure if the results of such tests (private clinics) are reported.

Private clinics do not have to inform the government health office - they only recommend that the tested person does if they test positive.

On target for a sub 500 week on week average just in time for SOE ending on May 31st - that's a nice coincidence ;-)

Send the police around there and make them stop people entering and kick out all the patrons at curfew time.

My wife told me as the SOE is not a criminal law, police have no power to do as you suggest. I have actually seen the coppers walk past bars still open (in Roppongi) at 11pm, and they they just kept walking. I'm not sure if it because the bar has some type of "arrangement" with them or they just don't care.

I see quite a few places that are open past 8pm - some of them just openly flaunt, while others just close the door and turn down the lights once 8pm hits. I'm still confused myself as to whether these directives have to be followed or not, and if not, apart from not being eligible for compensation, is there any other punishment?

Seriously thinking of just heading home for couple of months (can work remotely) so I can get the vaccine. If you are not in one of the priority groups here, you'll be waiting until possibly next year, which is unacceptable.
