But the stock market is doing great, almost like it has nothing to do with anything, also there will be that group who will come in soon telling us that 99% are fine. Another day of USA Republican capitalism where no one matters with 1/3 of the population actively keeping it this way. No consequences for almost overthrowing their own government.

Incredibly sad and just such a waste. A lesson in the perils of conservatism for the world.

2021 will let us know if the USA can turn it around or just how far gone it really is

As compared to 100,000 VISA transactions that takes 149 kWh, you get.... 1 bitcoin transaction at 657.6 kWh

How is this even remotely practical?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Posted in: What do you think of cryptocurrency? See in context

A single transaction footprint is 657.60 kWh, equivalent to the power consumption of an average U.S. household over 22.54 days.

It's literally insane to believe it will replace currency

Posted in: What do you think of cryptocurrency? See in context

it's a facade. If it's only defined by what it costs in another currency then it's not a currency.

It's a coupon that only few people can even use

No protection no insurance like what banking systems in other countries have. Supporing CCP and criminals, really really dumb.

Also there is not enough electricity on the planet to support using it for everyone. It would take the electricity of the entire USA to support only about 20million people using it for daily transactions, which is the ultimate in 1% thinking.

You can't be an environmentalist nor can you fight climate change and have bitcoin.

Posted in: Quake-rattled utility says it has adequate generation capacity See in context

nuclear equals the worst pollution ever made in the history of the planet plus disaster in its own right. Fukushima didn't teach you that by now? Chernobyl? Three Mile Island?

Japan believes itself to be energy poor, and based on oil and gas that is correct. However that is not the case for renewable energy at all. The paradigm shift needs to occur but the good 'ol boys network is doing everything possible to stop it. Thankfully prefectures have different ideas but it leads to a patchwork of options.

With renewables when disaster strikes again, local renewables are not affected improving rescue response times and communications. Keep jobs and knowledge local as well.

A solar disaster is called a sunny day. Can't beat that

Oh, and you can store excess energy from however it's made as molten salt overnight and keep generating electricity after sunset.

Nihon, is the land of the rising sun. You'd think you'd use the sun!!!

Or you could eat as many plants as you want. As both a vegan and the almost-vegan diet of the traditional Okinawans and others around the planet have already proven over and over. https://www.nutritionfacts.org

Veganism is rising in the UK so its obesity issues will go down over time and predicted to be a quarter of the population in the next five years.

This drug is just a way to keep eating badly and maintain the reliance on companies. Kinda reminds me of the humans in Wall-E
