If they truly want these people to work as machines then make them machines...fully automate the dang trains...

I understand the security and punctuality issues here, however he is a human being, not a machine...I feel bad for him...I remember a train got derailed back in 2006? close to Kobe because the young driver was stressed and very worried to be one or two minutes late to his next stop...haste makes waste people...

Posted in: Man arrested for buying cup meant for ¥100 coffee but pouring ¥200 latte into it See in context

For me putting anything other than ice in black coffee should be deemed a crime itself lol...

however, I believe the clerk should have warned the man before calling the cops on him...

On the other hand, I have heard and read of cops here ignoring more serious crime suspects such as a murderou stalker ex-boyfriend chasing his ex-girlfriend around to kill her or blatantly obvious underwear snatchers...how comes they can't ignore a suspected coffee thief?! Priorities...

no one in their sane mind takes a cab here to travel such a huge distance. I wonder if the cab driver didn't notice the woman behaving oddly during the 8 hours of travel...

I grew up when such was the norm and thus developed resilience towards online abusers, I guess the younger generation which has grown up practically embedded into the virtual world has a hard time to realize that it is just that, a virtual world...

Sometimes I wish we could go back to the days when whatever happened online was not to be taken so seriously and had almost no repercussions in our "real" lives...

Posted in: Does a guy lose all chance with a Japanese woman if he doesn’t pay for the first date? See in context

paying for everything usually hasn't led me anywhere good...I'd say not paying for everything but paying for a large percentage (70,80%) of the bill is a better policy...I usually eat and drink more than the other person does anyway...

Shinmaiko! I know that place well and I've crossed the tracks many many times there...I will never see this place in the same way again...definitely tragic not only for the family but also for the driver.

sounds like a really nice gesture from A-kun towards B-kun...perhaps B-kun really wanted to get a better education but he felt he would be unable to pass the exam and perhaps he did not have the economic means to afford such a school...in any case I feel that getting educated and acquiring knowledge can never be deemed as a crime...

Posted in: Woman arrested for attempted murder after shooting crossbow arrow at man See in context

@Btang even if they check the packages, why did his wife get a report from the post office regarding a purchase which is not illegal in any sense? Perhaps they wanted to confirm the delivery (re-delivery?) and your friend was careful enough to use his own credit card, phone number and to send it to an address where his wife would not see the package (or go pick it up himself from the delivery center?). In such a case it is partially his fault for being sloppy.

I'm starting to wonder why crossbows have become the weapon of choice here lately...I had no idea it was so easy to get your hands on one...even for unemployed people...

"In a country where everything else is regulated,"

especially for non jn. A friend of mine a tokyo white instructor ordered some condoms from AZ, and a nutcrack from jpost called his wife. He wound up losing his j-wife behind that.

@Btang what the heck!? Are you serious!?!?!? how did that even happen?

Oh and by the way, I come from a country where burying people is the norm. I am quite against burials despite this fact.

Posted in: Japan lacking burial grounds for expanding Muslim population See in context

One thing I really like about Japan is actually the lack of burials. I have absolutely no intention to hurt the feelings people may hold towards their deceased relatives and friends, however cemeteries are factually a waste of good land and a source of pollution. In Japan cremation was adopted for practical reasons and this must be respected. The land is for the living.
