triring

your looooong coment has got no argument. People who are sick and are having symptoms are getting tested. That means the number of covid should be higher because it's not random testing. If you test 1500 people with possible symptoms and 9000 with possible symptoms you won't get similar number. Impossible! Healthy people are not definitely getting tested.

it's impossible because if you test 4times more you should have more cases not 4times more cases but you won't get similar number when testing 1500 and 9000 it can not be for the logic: more you test, more you will find.

pardon me but what quality you are talking about being native English SPEAKER doesn't equal being good English TEACHER. Many the best English teachers I've seen came from group non-natives because of benefit that they had to learn English as their second language so they understand better difficulty of learning English and are able to explain grammar better than person who is native and grammar comes naturally.

20years ago better quality? Really I didn't noticed that older Japanese folks are such a great English speakers...

but I wasn't talking about English Teachers at all. You can teach plenty thing in Japan even foreigner.

gaijin is not equal to English teacher.

even if you wanna make it about not certificated English teacher. I don't think they deserve to be mistreated because they don't have licence. That's ridiculous. They are adults after all and put by autority in the position "teacher"

i may be but you do not have information about your education and certification written on your forehead. Most of companies won't hire you without certification at least for English Teaching. Plenty may of course.

but are you suggesting that it's okay for kids to be disrespectful towards adults? I don't think so.

having licence or not doesn't mean that you can be call by names etc. It's about fellow human being and position adult and teacher.

finally rich

right you are...

and you can always leave and go home when you had enough.

but there is nothing bad in adressing problems and asking to be treated as human being and your children too. 21 century like it or not. More gaijins coming like it or not. Carpeting problems won't work anymore. Dialog will become only possible way.

i actually do...

i used to work at japanese ninka hoikuen. There you need japanese teaching license. I have one.

also you don't introduce yourself as: hey kids, I am teacher without licence. if you do Japanese parents will want get you fired.

yes

adding no social life cos I have small kid and I am raising the child by myself. So just work, hoikuen and shopping and taking walk in the remote park.

despite the 3hours on the train daily and rotating biggest town. Meeting with more than 200people daily during work day. Following rules like: no physical contacts, no borrowing ballpens etc. keeping distance. Ventilation all the time.

so far so good so yes I do believe it's enough. I do not vaccine even flu. Never had it nor my kid. So yes, I'll pass, I won't be a guinea pig for free. Sorry.

it's strange that people screaming here: no deaths, low cases etc. are so eager to get vaccination. Why? Hypocrisy at it's finest.

difference between Japan and other countries is that despite of existence of rasism and discrimination and bully over the globe. In Japan it's hard to adress it.

people here want to hear only about wonderful, fabulous Japan. Not about the problems that could be fixed.

example: kids are allowed calling foreigner teachers by names, they are being told that they should ignore it. But is ok to call japanese teacher by names no? So why it's ok to do it with foreigner. Ignore it? No way. It's just setting wrong example and sending bad message. Your reputation as a "teacher" will drop to "funny gaijin"

not surprised at all. Playing with the numbers of the tests again. 500 from almost 10000. now 500 from 1500...yeah playing so hard.

garth

i don't get you. if you get vaccine then you have nothing to fear right. Or you are saying you may get it even is you do vaccination? What is the point in getting it in first place.

i am pro vaccination but in this particular case I'm going to pass. Since wearing mask and washing hands is the best protection I'll stick with that. After it's safe to believe that no side effects are happening, then I will consider getting it.

all of the sudden they are able to test almost 10000. They should keep same amount of the test every day, because that will show real situation. 570 from 10000 is nothing for many people.

i do believe that is the way how to make people not panic.

thanks for sharing. People with the brain could figure it out without article as well. Death rate is not correct. Can't be. Many people die alone and are discover weeks after passing away and that they don't test people who died on covid is well known. They go with logic: if it can be something else than covid, it's something else...

they are manipulating numbers. It's impossible to have over 300 infected from 1000tests and than pretty similar number (plus minus 70 is nothing in population of millions) from from 5000 or 6000test. It's simple impossible. Now I think we got more likely the real number almost 500 from almost 1300 test.

sorry, that's not what I meant.

mother tongue is one's native language not talking about British English as the main English. Here in Japan mainly talk about the spelling and pronunciation happens between US and British nationals.

For me as the non-native English speaker it's always annoying because 80%spoken English is non-native so from my perspective it really doesn't matter if you are able to understand what the text or conversation is about.

in Japan you can meet very proud English native speakers who are so "sad" that your English is not perfect. Usually if you ask them how many languages do they speak, the answer is always the same: one- my mother tongue. Splendid.

more tolerance would be nice ...

zichi:

" I don't get that hung up over Engrish. "

this depends on if you are native or non-native English speaker and if native if you speak one language or you are multilingual.

usually those lucky to be borned in English speaking country and being proud of speaking just native language are less tolerant to Engrish and pronunciation etc.

the worst thing you can get into as non-native English speaker is fight between US and British nationals over spelling and pronunciation. Really mendokusai.

nah...

1000 tests and 300 positive THEN

7000 tests and similar number 390 NOW over 6000 and still similar number.

with the logic: : "if you test more, you will have more cases" this is strange. ( plus/minus ) 80 people plus is not really increase in population of millions of people.

my guess: tests are always 1000(plus/minus) and then they just add 5000 or 6000 imaginare tests (negative of course) and here you go. Numbers will be similar over 300 but under 400 not big deal, ne...

if you have 300 from 1000 you got almost one third people sick.

if you have 390 from 7000 it's way less. Your logic is failing here. "More tests=more covid case" doesn't seems to work here. I mean there should be way more cases from 7000cases. I do think they do manipulate the tests numbers. Always when less testing shows big number the next day they get similar number from 5-6times bigger amount of test.

logic: test more and you will find more should work but in Japan is not working and I don't simple believe, that there are not sick people but someone manipulates with number in purpose not to spread panic.
