Because the 3 who got the virus were from another, unrelated party. Mixing of the two makes it confusing.

But yes, most companies make efforts to curb parties, regardless of the safety measures (my place forbids dinning with people other than family), so these guys should have known better

Posted in: The coronavirus crisis has been going on for a year now, but the authorities just keep doing the same thing over and over again. Rather than restricting our business hours, it would be more helpful economically if they reduced restaurants' capacity to 30-50% or something like that. I want them to think up a smart way to do things. See in context

There is only one way out of this mess: vaccination. Rather than fiddling with quasi- or semi- or full emergencies, put all the effort and resources in accelerating the vaccination campaign. No more endless meetings, countless inkans, cute vaccine-kun mascots to convince idiots that vaccines are safe, no more trying to predict all possible scenarios for the vaccination process, just go on with it. There vaccines are already here, just do it.

It seems that the guy stayed in the car, while the women came and started aggressing his car. And clinging onto the hood when he tried to escape. I have the feeling they arrested the wrong person

Posted in: Assemblyman in Mie reveals same-sex couple's address online See in context

Again, the story is lacking many details. Japanese news said that it was an open letter, and the couple specifically stated that the contents of the letter and any eventual response will be fully posted on their social media. The address part is not clear, and if they did not consent to that, indeed the politician trespassed privacy; he disputes that.

He also said that he removed his post after his office and his family, including his children being continuously harassed online, by phone and by mail.

There are also two sides to any story, and ideally the news outlets should research and publish both, instead of throwing bits of sensationalist and incomplete facts.

Posted in: Do you think self-driving cars will take away the fun of being at the wheel of your vehicle? See in context

I think similar discussions erupted when AT became popular, and nowadays everybody except Europeans drive AT.

I believe that for a while, both driving and self-driving will be available, so you can switch between them at convenience. I love to drive on a mountain or ocean road, but not on a 30 km traffic jam on the express way. Even now, the "auto-pilot" function of new cars (a more sophisticated cruise control) is quite helpful.

And it would be nice to be able to drink and not worry about driving home.

Rcch, I'm not sure who doesn't know too much about football. Besides making unfounded and rude accusations.

European qualifiers for example:

San Marino 0-13 Germany, September 2006

Spain 12-1 Malta, December 1983

Netherlands 11-0 San Marino, September 2011

France 10-0 Azerbaijan, September 1995

Spain 9-0 Austria, March 1999

While symbolic, this is an important message that personal attacks have consequences, even online. An important point is how will this charge be attached to the culprit: usually, getting arrested/charged for a serious offense will kill your career in Japan, not sure about this "charge for making public insults".

It is already obvious that Korda and Sinner will be in top 10 soon, I predict even top 3. Absolutely impressive. And good competition from the other (relatively) young wave, Thiem, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Rublev, etc.

I know that defense attorney are just doing their job, but demanding this monster to be acquitted on a technicality (cigarette butts in the garbage outside require warrant or not) is quite crazy. Miami Open is a Masters 1000 tournament, so even if Djoko, Nadal and Federer are out, 6 out of top 10 players, and every other player from top 50 will be there. Nishikori is no. 41, he has a chance, but a very slim one

Of course himself and his team have to set up goals as high as possible, and keep motivated.

As I commented yesterday, I saw a few of his matches, and in my opinion he plays well and if he stays injury-free and motivated, I believe he can be back into top 20. But I don't think he will be able to make top 10, and I highly doubt top 5, the big three are still hanging around, and the young generation is also flying high (Thiem, Medvedev, Rublev, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Shapovalov, Berrettini, Sinner and a few more).

Nishikori started this season strong, I've seen only partially three of his matches, but he is playing well. Assuming he stays healthy and focused, he may get close to top 10 again. But I highly doubt he has any chance at a grand slam, the field is too strong.

I sampled a variety of non-alcoholic beers (including European ones), but I couldn't find anything to like. Same with happoshu.

I am not as rich as the posters above (and I drink almost daily), so I will stick with Yebisu, the blonde and the pale ale versions. Very decent beer, and compares well with the German beers I sometimes (read once a week) buy from the local Yamaya. Again, at the 300 jpy / 500 mL price range.
