Posted in: Japan to start vaccinations for elderly on April 12 See in context

The vaccine will start just on time so we can celebrate the Olympics as victory of humanity over the deadly virus.

Oh wait, but the virus is still killing millions of people worldwide and with new variations the vaccines might even be useless.

Why with Japanese must always be so extreme?

Yes gender equality is a top priority but defeat a virus that is killing millions and millions of humans is the number one priority at the moment.

Oh but I can guess why such words have been spoken, because they need to clean their image and show to the world how good they are to reach gender equality just on time for their precious Olympics that no one cares around the world at this stage.

This culture of omitting things at a high level which creates this fake perception harmony is like shooting on it’s own foot.

And then when major problems like this comes out there will be even more issues.

I hope that someday J-bureaucracy and companies will learn to use transparency.

I think we all wish to go back to normality.

I do personally miss my weekend gathering with my friends for a few pints at my local hizakaya but we must be responsible and willing to sacrifice our personal routine for a greater good.

The government shouldn’t lift the lockdown but actually make it more effective until the population is vaccinated and there are tangible proofs that the virus is reduced.

They (LDP) put this Lady just to save face around the world and show to the western media, look we changed things.

But the truth is that she's also a puppet of the regime and only something to display to the world.

Nothing is going to change in Japan, nothing.

The sexist education of Japanese children will continue in the name of traditions.

So we all should praise Kono because he's less old than most of the living fossils and because he's capable to speak English?

Let me see,in 2021 English is lingua Franca and spoken widely by almost every person in the industrialized countries and most politicians like in Germany Sweden Taiwan etc are capable to strike a normal conversation in English.

Truth is that he's an ultra conservative right winger willing to play the game of his old masters.

Kono isn't better than Koizumi Jr.

Toasted you have a very valid point.

But some Japanese have such xenophobe and narrow minded thinking,if you don’t like it our way then go home.

These people fail to comprehend that to criticize the system in a civilized and legal way is also a perfect way to improve them.

I find it very interesting, they are ready to march for black lives matter and myamar and rightfully so but they almost never do the same for their corrupted politicians and all the injustice that they face in their country.

This is frankly absurd, why Japanese people always need some cartoon or cute mascot even for serious issues like this?

Yubaro I tend to agree with you but also keep in mind the context.

Japanese women or most of them have been brought up in not questioning the authorities and the hierarchy.

So it is easier to say than be done to ask the majority of females to stand their ground.

After all they are victims of a rooted and long aged brainwashing propaganda.

Sadly but I think only from external pressure something might change to better for equality in Japan.

Posted in: Activists call for more reform by Tokyo Olympics organizers See in context

Japan and reforms are not words that sound really good together.

I highly doubt anything will truly change, all this cover from the media is just because Japan was ashamed under the world public opinion but after the Olympics are over the old Oyaji at the corporations will keep ruling with their fist.

Realistically and unfortunately.

Posted in: Mori resigns over sexist remarks: Hashimoto being considered to replace him See in context

This old fossil deserves what het gets, but this is just the top of the whole problem.

Japan needs to reform it’s education toward women from childhood and reset this outdated mindset.

I’m worried that they just pushed Mori out of his chair because the world is watching.

But after that? Will they really go through the deep reforms to modernize and equalize a deep rooted still feudal pyramiding society?

Also I must say that some people do not truly speak real wisdom even if they use new accounts ;)

I think these kids full of love for anime and manga should stop idolizing a country that doesn’t give a dime to foreigners and reinvest their saving for a nice vacation once this pandemic is over, which might be a few years.

I tend to agree with you itsonlyrockenroll.

But the problem is that we as expats in Japan have zero power, also we all know well that Japanese do not like to be told what to do from foreigners, even if they are right.

The things here are not runned by rational logic and equal rights but by passion, honour and stubbornness.

I seriously doubt that anything will slightly change about their system about human rights, gender equality, welfare etc.

Maybe in a hundred years or who knows.

For sure most or all of us won’t live enough to see such changes.

Nothing will ever change for them.

The only major changes in Japan were forced by the outside.

So stay assured that this won’t end any time soon.

What Mori said is the opinion of a large majority of Oyaji.

Simply disgusting.

Posted in: Despite sexism uproar, Tokyo Olympics chief finds high-level support See in context

Mori and his category of old J-boys do not belong to this timeline but to the Neolithic.

People like him are the one that think women should stay silent and cook and foreigners are a joke.

Mori and people like him keep Japan stuck in the past and for sure the civilized world doesn’t have a good impression of all of this.

Some of you rightfully asked why women don’t do more rather than some soft protests.

If you lived long enough here you guys should know that sadly this kind of passive reaction is not only from women but from the population in general.

These people from childhood are indoctrinated to blindly obey and never question the superiors.

Japan needs a deep change in it’s feudal structure.

Biden is trying to be discreet and polite but he wants to send a message to use logic instead of blind stubborn pride for such a big event where thousand of people gather together.

Maybe some people at the helm forgot that we are still in the very middle of a world pandemic and the vaccine didn't even start in Japan.

Zaphod and where did you read this,in a fantasy book?

The European Union rejects and is strongly opposed to death penalty,to new members to get in the Union they need high standards of human/animal rights and free of death penalty.

Before you state something incorrect inform yourself.

The EU is so committed against such barbaric use that it won’t even sell the medicines for the cocktails to make lethal injections to the US states that still have it.

What a paradox of life, the overproud right wing government lead by the nippon kaigi desperately dependend on a vaccine produced by a gaijin company.

Maybe instead of wasting money in the last decade in weapons and invest more in social welfare Japan would be in a different situation as now.

I’m amazed by the comments above,so you guys are the judges and already sentenced a person to death, thanks the providence the European Union rejected such a crude and medieval practice like the capital execution.

And unlike other countries the Chilean man will be tried in France as an innocent man until proved guilty.

If that man is responsible of such a despicable act I’m confident that the French authorities will give him the right penalty.

Good info tamanegi.

The J-media and TV can keep using their propaganda to the local media that Japan has lower cases compared to abroad but western medias and newspapaer with a more freedom of press know that these numbers are toned down by Japan.

Sad that the truth of testing comes only from non japanese informations.

Wait and pray for the comming of a vaccine is not enough,as always too slow and to late.
